I always strive to write better, clean and readable code. But I often find unit tests are hard to read, and especially harder to quickly identify what are the important pieces, or even what the test is testing about. So I came up with this lightweight library to help enforce unit tests with a Given-When-Then structure. I hope you find this useful. Any feedback are welcome. https://github.com/cobrakai-lab/Cobrakai.GWTUnit

I built a CLI that detects patterns AI coding tools leave behind: empty catch blocks, hardcoded secrets, as any everywhere, comments that restate the code, god functions, SQL concatenation. 24 rules across JS/TS and Python. Zero config, runs offline, regex-based so it's fast. npx @yuvrajangadsingh/vibecheck . Also ships as a GitHub Action for inline PR annotations and standalone binaries (no Node required). Why: CodeRabbit found AI-generated PRs have 1.7x more issues than human PRs. Veracode says 45% of AI code samples have security vulnerabilities. "Vibe coding" is everywhere now…

Definition Stack is a new vscode extension I have just released. It is a reading tool for Javascript and Typescript. It is available in the extension marketplace. You just click in a function in any source code, execute a command, and a new tab opens next to the original. That tab has a "block" which contains a copy of the function you clicked in. In that code every word (symbol) that has a definition is highlighted. If you click on a higlighted word a new block opens above the original which contains the source code of the definition for that word. You can click in that block and repeat to…

You write a standard solution, just like on LeetCode, and run it through the CLI. It identifies the problem by ID or title, executes your code against local test cases, and shows the result. It currently supports around 1000 problems and multiple languages, including Python, C++, Rust, Java, Go, TypeScript, Swift, and others. The project is still an MVP. System design, SQL, and concurrency problems are not supported yet, but support for more problem types is planned. Made in Haskell!

Hi HN, I’m Guillaume, the cofounder of Bearer, an Open Source SAST solution. After launching a few weeks ago here on Hacker News with support for Ruby and JavaScript stacks, I’m happy to report we’ve just released a new version (v1.2) with TypeScript support! In terms of code coverage, we use the same rules already implemented for vanilla JavaScript, but as usual, you can build your own. The rules list is here: https://docs.bearer.com/reference/rules/ It’s a first version for TS, but we believe that thanks to the pre-existing JavaScript support it should already…

At testup.io we have been working for a while to bring artificial intelligence to the field of test automation. Just a few years ago, the primary challenge laid in accurately identifying UI elements following minor structural changes, such as updates to IDs or paths. The emergence of Large Language Models (LLMs) raised the bar for what it meant to be smart. Now, we anticipate the robot to do lots of things autonomously, such as retry in cases of unresponsiveness or handle minor error reports. A more challenging, but soon expected feature, would involve the test robot navigating your web shop…
