I built a Rust-powered Wavelet Matrix library for Python. There were surprisingly few practical Wavelet Matrix implementations available for Python, so I implemented one with a focus on performance, usability, and typed APIs. It supports fast rank/select, top-k, quantile, range queries, and even dynamic updates. Feedback welcome!

Hi HN! Matrix-CRDT connects the worlds of Yjs [1] (a proven, high performance CRDT) with that of Matrix.org [2]. It started as an experiment, asking myself; can we store "state updates of a datastore" in Matrix instead of chat messages? Now, I'm convinced it's actually a really powerful combination to develop real-time, collaborative software. I'm using it for a new project and so far didn't have to write a backend yet. Matrix takes care of a lot of stuff: Authentication, E2EE, federation, hosting, etc. - so I can focus on the client. I love the ideas of Local First [3] software. Personally,…

PyTermGUI is a highly modular framework offering most of the features one would expect from a GUI library, such as a mature and open Widget API, animations, mouse support and other goodies, right inside the terminal! The markup language is another great feature of the library, and is used by practically all elements of it. It is based on Rich's implementation, but uses a more concise and easier to humanly parse syntax, while being over 10 times faster at parsing due to a long list of optimizations. There is a full Window Manager API included as well, allowing the user to move, resize and…

Last week was big for open source LLMs. We got: - Qwen 2.5 VL (72b and 32b) - Gemma-3 (27b) - DeepSeek-v3-0324 And a couple weeks ago we got the new mistral-ocr model. We updated our OCR benchmark to include the new models. We evaluated 1,000 documents for JSON extraction accuracy. Major takeaways: - Qwen 2.5 VL (72b and 32b) are by far the most impressive. Both landed right around 75% accuracy (equivalent to GPT-4o’s performance). Qwen 72b was only 0.4% above 32b. Within the margin of error. - Both Qwen models passed mistral-ocr (72.2%), which is specifically trained for OCR. - Gemma-3…

I use this library I made for Vectors and Quaternions in many personal projects. I've open-sourced it, in case anyone else would get use out of it. I use this on various projects, including quadcopter firmware, a graphics engine, a cosmology simulation, and several molecular dynamics applications. No_std compatible.
