I've been working on an app in my spare time for about the past 6 months in between my day job and taking care of my 10 month old daughter. I'm trying to get the motivation up to actually finish building out a "real" product, and I found myself needing a "win" to keep my momentum up. So, I hacked out a little one sentence journal app last night. So a while ago I was thinking it would be neat to build a site that had the most absolute utility. The idea I came up with was a site to store those little protips that are super useful, if you know them ahead of time. 4 months ago sucked. Our technical co-founder quit after 6 months and we still had no product. My co-founder and I had been 'working' on our startup for 8 months. I say 'working' because as the "business people" - there wasn't a whole lot we could do except philosophize. So I just did my semi-annual "log in to Twitter to see if it's any good yet", and found that in my absence I had followed a few thousand new spam accounts. Sweet. That explains why they emailed me and forced me to change my password last year. Being Awesome, Twitter doesn't have any way to simply toss out all your followers and start from scratch. I've spent the last couple weeks working on getting this up and running. It's my first web app. The use case it is designed for is for shift workers who work x days on, y days off. So if you ask them "Are you going to be able to go to my wedding on July 15, 2012" they have no idea. This helps solve that problem. Feed back as always is appreciated.
