I made rm-safely, a simple shell wrapper that moves files to trash instead of permanently deleting them. It prevents accidental deletions from autocomplete mishaps or hasty rm -rf commands. Should work as a drop-in replacement for rm but safer. Would appreciate any feedback!

Hi HN community, I’m Zach, founder and CEO of Warp, and am excited to show you Warp, a fast Rust-based terminal that’s easy to use and built for teams. As of today, Warp is in public beta and any Mac user can download it. It works with bash, zsh, and fish. The terminal’s teletype-like interface has made it hard for the CLI to thrive. After 20 years of programming, I still find it hard to copy a command’s output; I always forget how to use `tar`; and I always have to relearn how to move my cursor. To fix fundamental accessibility issues, I believe we need to start innovating on the terminal,…

I wanted to clean old temporary files and caches from my macOS with a script instead of using a shady paid app, so I created a simple script for that. Pull requests are very welcome for other unused files to clean up storage space!

Mac Cleanup Go▲100Instead of a traditional command-style CLI, it runs as a TUI in the terminal, allowing users to inspect cleanup targets before proceeding. On my macOS machines, caches and app data often take up more than 40% of disk usage. Manually cleaning them each time felt tedious, so I built this tool to make the process easier. While similar tools exist, I found it hard to quickly understand how items were categorized or how important each cleanup target was, so I built my own. Repository: https://github.com/2ykwang/mac-cleanup-go Feedback is welcome.

Author here. RMUX started from a frustration: I've used tmux for years and got tired of scraping output with grep and sleeps to automate anything. So I rebuilt the multiplexer from scratch in Rust, with a programmable layer on top. Two surfaces: a tmux-compatible CLI (~90 commands, your keybindings just work), and a typed async Rust SDK on the same daemon — stable pane IDs, structured snapshots, locator-style waits. The idea is Playwright-style automation, but for terminals. Native on Linux, macOS, Windows (real ConPTY, no WSL). Demos and docs at rmux.io. Happy to answer questions about the…

FileFillet▲176Hi HN, I’d like to share FileFillet, a macOS app I created to help organize files more quickly. By setting up your favorite folders, you can quickly access them while dragging files (or folders) for copy/move operations, eliminating the need to navigate through multiple Finder windows just to move a file from A to B.

I built GRSH because I wanted a modern, memory-safe shell that feels native to FreeBSD but works seamlessly on macOS. While there are many shells out there, GRSH is my take on a minimal, fast, and secure command interpreter written entirely in Rust. It's designed for users who want the safety guarantees of Rust without the overhead of more bloated alternatives. I'm currently working on the official FreeBSD port. I’d love to get feedback on the shell's behavior and performance from the community. Github: https://github.com/antoniomalara301289/grsh

Hi HN, I made Fallinorg, a local macOS app that organizes files by their meaning, not just their name or type. Problem: My Downloads and Desktop folders kept filling up with cryptically named, duplicate, or unrelated files. Over time, cleaning up and finding the right file became a pain. Solution: Fallinorg uses Sentence Transformers (SBERT) to understand the content and context of files, then automatically groups them. It runs fully offline, so you can safely classify sensitive files (finance, medical, personal, etc.). On Apple Silicon, it parses, tokenizes, and categorizes a file in about…
