Found that you can actually run a 35B Qwen model on a Pi with very impressive intelligence and stability. Built connectors for car ODB to read all about car internals, and manufacturer's cloud service for stuff like changing AC or opening/ locking doors. Gave it info such as the full car manual. And then hooked it up with my other agents in our discussion room! So now it can answer car questions such as "when should I add oil and what kind of oil?" and help you fully offline, and when online talk with the agent family that includes all the most powerful models so they know how the car…

Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs) let an untrusted proved show that computation was executed correctly without revealing the inputs to the verifier. However to prove anything, the computation first has to be expressed as a circuit: a system of polynomial equations (constraints) over a finite field. Circuits are the assembly language of zk and every constraint costs prover (and sometimes verifier) time, so production circuits are aggressively hand-optimized. Over the last months, we have been experimenting with writing formal specifications instead and letting LLMs produce the circuits: as long as…

Hi HN! I just built chessterm, a Rust-powered TUI chess engine to practice chess notation (PGN) for an upcoming chess competition. This was also a way for me to learn Rust more deeply, particularly bitboards for move generation and terminal UI development with ratatui Unlike typical chess UIs that wrap around Stockfish, this is built completely from scratch, with: - PGN-only input (no AI, just human vs human) - Bitboard-based move generation (u64, precomputed attack masks) - Built with ratatui for a smooth terminal experience Would love to hear your feedback!

This started out when I vibe-coded a guitar scale fingering generator. It came out pretty good, and I started adding stuff to it: chords, then how chords and scales interact. Then I added charts for other instruments I mess around with: piano, cello, alto recorder. There's a complexity toggle to go from basic harmony to extended/experimental stuff. It's honestly still mostly a toy, but I thought other people might be interested in playing with it. Source is on github, so it's easy enough to run locally and fork. https://github.com/aleshh/gtr-scales

Inspired by the recent Boards Of Canada announcement, I've been in a low-fi electronica mood lately and was going back and forth with Claude on how to design similar instruments in the browser that fit the genre. One thing led to another and pretty soon I had a fully browser based polyphonic synthesizer / drum machine / sequencer. The interface and workflow was heavily inspired by the Rebirth338 application released back in the 90's, but with lo-fi synth voices rather than the original 303 & 808 emulation. I know there's a significant overlap of developers and musicians and I…

So, I've never written a line of Rust in my life. I wouldn't know an `&mut this` from a mutandis. But I saw a tweet about a month ago that said, in this new era of AI, you'd be able to just take a library that you love, throw a TUI around it, and call it an app. So I spent about 200 bucks last month, here's what I came up with: Imbolc is a DAW that runs entirely in your terminal. It talks to scsynth over OSC and ships 58 instruments and 39 effects. VSTs are a work in progress, also GarageBand loops if you want to recreate "Umbrella". The codebase is about 60k? lines of Rust across 5 crates,…

We are building a VM that helps you simulate realistic production conditions, model latencies, different interleaving, user requests, and find bugs. Every non-deterministic property is turned into a knob you or a coding agent can control. We have helped teams perfectly reproduce support incidents and found bugs in some of the world's most well tested software (including a database).

Hi everyone! Hope you had a great day so far, and maybe its about to get just a little bit better (thanks Winter ;) So I had way to many terminal windows flying about when using Claude, and kept losing track of which terminal / session / project im in right now. So I built a solution for that, presented it to my team, and now we're using our new tool all the time, and developing it to be the most helpful agents organization tool we can think of. Unfortunatelly, Claude Code only for now, will do Codex soon tho. What it does for you: Main features: - Overview of your projects, with…

Hello Hacker News community! I'm currently working in financial risk management within the banking sector, and I began my career as a Data Science specialist. For quite some time, my friend and I have been developing a small pet project just for fun. This tool has repeatedly helped us save time when testing various hypotheses and machine learning models. The core idea is to combine different scripts—created in various programming languages and virtual environments—within a minimalist graphical interface. Whether you're building models, running a local neural network, or sending requests to…
