Ruby static type checker is a proof-of-concept tool that adds static type checking capabilities to Ruby, a dynamically typed programming language. It is designed for Ruby developers who want to catch type-related… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Hello HN, I introduce a property-based testing tool for Ruby. Ruby's ease of test-writing and rich ecosystem are widely acclaimed. However, property-based testing is not as widely used as in other languages such as Haskell or Elixir, and I think this is because there is no de facto testing tool. This gem currently not only has the basic functionality of stateless property-based testing but also has the following features: - Support verbose mode that allows you to see its shrinking procedure and algorithms. - Support several concurrency/parallel executions of each test. As of now,…

Hi HN! I've been working on the fuse programming language, it's a statically typed purely functional language with higher-kinder types and ad-hoc polymorphism. It compiles to the GRIN whole-program optimizer, producing LLVM-generated native code. Fuse supports ADTs, Generics, Type Methods, Traits, Pattern matching etc. all in a functional style with no mutations. I’ve been developing the language for 5 years, with code written in Scala. I’ve started coding the language from the base of System F that was implemented as part of the book: Types and Programming Languages (tapl). And then…

An implementation of a dynamic programming language in Rust. Includes: Parser/Compiler, REPL, Virtual Machine, Bytecode Disassembler This started out as a learning project to teach myself Rust. It has grown into a decently substantial piece of software and I've learned quite a bit in the process! Some neat things: + A garbage collector that can store dynamically sized types without any double-indirection (i.e. I have my own Box implementation with manual alloc/dealloc) + The smart pointer used to reference GCed data is a thin pointer. The ptr metadata needed for DSTs is stored in…

I created this ORM to fill a gap in the Python ecosystem. Due to the nature of typing in Python there are no other Python ORMs that can provide correct type hints. Prisma Python manages to work around this by auto-generating python types. Aside from static type checking, providing type hints means that you will get autocomplete suggestions for you which for me is the killer feature for this ORM (see the GIF in the README for an example). It's also built on top of Prisma, a next-generation ORM for TypeScript which means that the core query building and connection handling has been battle…

GitHub: https://www.github.com/fizzbee-io/FizzBee Traditionally, formal methods are used only for highly mission critical systems to validate the software will work as expected before it's built. Recently, every major cloud vendor like AWS, Azure, Mongo DB, confluent, elastic and so on use formal methods to validate their design like the replication algorithm or various protocols doesn't have a design bug. I used TLA+ for billing and usage based metering applications. However, the current formal methods solutions like TLA+, Alloy or P and so on are incredibly complex to…
