Just a fun hack I did while bored over the weekend. My wife was busy shopping, it got me thinking that can VLMs solve the indoor location problem in a mall? Can I just show a VLM a map and an image and have it doa good enough job locating me? I hacked this P.O.C and it seems to work.

I used to enjoy Translation Party, and over the weekend I realized that we can build the same feedback loop with DALLE-3 and GPT4-Vision. Start with a text prompt, let DALLE-3 generate an image, then GPT-4 Vision turns that image back into a text prompt, DALLE-3 creates another image, and so on. You need to bring your own OpenAI API key (costs about $0.10/run) Some prompts are very stable, others go wild. I used the YOLO object detection library from Ultralytics to scan over 40 million hotel photos and identify images with office chairs. This helped me create a map showing hotels suitable for remote work. I've developed a Python API service that uses GPT-4o for OCR on PDFs. It features parallel processing and batch handling for improved performance. Not only does it convert PDF to markdown, but it also describes the images within the PDF using captions like `[Image: This picture shows 4 people waving]`. I built this app over a week as a way to learn how to use TensorFlow with Mobilenets and to get some experience with Google Play (and partly as a dare). It's written in Java, as I wasn't able to find a Kotlin API for TFLite. It was built with Bazel.
