24 alternatives to Tascli, a command line based (human) task and record manager
I've created tascli to solve a need of simple activity tracker including task and record in local CLI. It's available via cargo and brew tap. It's simple, the API is minimal and without complex usage patterns. It supports both task and records and treat them separately (task have deadlines, records are point in time) It doesn't run any background processes. It is small (compiled sizes <2MB) It is fast (<5ms on each command on a normal computer/github workflow host). It stores activities into a local sqlite db file. Looking for new features requests too!
Tascli is a command-line tool for managing tasks and records directly in the terminal. Installed via Cargo, it offers a lightweight alternative to graphical task managers for developers and command-line users who… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. I've been running long duration coding agents with Claude Code for about 6 months now. Steve Yegge released Beads back in October and I found that giving Claude tools for proper task tracking was a massive unlock. But Beads grew massively in a short time and every release made it slower and more frustrating to use. I started battling it several times a week as its background daemon took to syncing the wrong things at the wrong times. Over the holidays I finally ripped it out and wrote ticket as a replacement. It keeps the core concept I actually cared about (graph-based task dependencies)…

We're building an app that helps people manage their schedule, tasks and notes all in one place. The goal is to create a workspace, where people can manage their various priorities, both personal and professional, see a single schedule combined of all their calendars and manage their days without switching between multiple apps. At the moment we've implemented Google calendar synchronisation, basic tasks and notes. Also Emery has some things we really wanted to see in other apps – private notes for meetings, categories that can be used to group tasks/notes/meetings together, weekly…

Hi HN, I’m the founder of Zesfy, a productivity app that I’ve been developing over the past few years. Here are some of its key features: - Task Progress: Automatically update your progress based on subtasks completed - Step: Create step-by-step breakdown of the subtask - Target: Organize tasks with due date - Session: Insert multiple tasks to calendar event - Space: Filter event from specific sets of calendars I recently introduced new…

Hi HN! I was feeling incredibly frustrated with my struggles in context-switching and writing documentation, so I decided to take action and find a solution. I wrote a simple tool for Alfred and Raycast that helps me be more mindful when switching between tasks, which can even prevent some of those switches. Plus, I can jot down quick notes on each task as I go, making it easier to document everything once I’m finished. This tool is really simple with only 5 commands - tsr, tsn, tsl, tsv, tse tsr writes a new record tsn writes a new note tsl shows you the current task tsv builds a static…

I quit my job and made an automatic time trackerfrom $39/mo▲136Hey Hacker News! This is my first post here. About 5 months ago, I left my job because I was completely burnt out. After taking some time off, I started freelancing. But I found tracking my time to be a real hassle as I kept forgetting to start or stop the timer and often had no idea what I’d worked on. So, I decided to build Taim as a side project, while also working now on some freelancing gigs. Taim is going to be automated time tracking tool for freelancers and teams. It’s designed to make tracking time effortless and accurate, so you can focus on your work and not worry about the clock.…
