Products that do what Verelo.com does

We were going to launch our new product into beta tomorrow (http://www.verelo.com - web monitoring) however, it just so happens to be the same day of the SOPA protests. We're going to black out in support. Feel free to take a peek before we do black out, we'd love feedback on our web design. http://verelo.com

Our little startup you've never heard of, called Vidpresso, is powering CNN's New Year's Eve social media ticker! It's a huge accomplishment for us. We're originally Utah based (our other employees are in NM and Karachi though) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bc3GdRrCUAAqLaN.jpg:large I'm posting this more out of sheer excitement than anything. I wanted to share that any startup anywhere can have exciting wins like this... regardless of whether you're in SV, went to MIT, or whatever. Just make something people want, and it'll work out. In 2014, start the thing you've been…

Y'all, I've been reading about the "nuclear option" that some internet giants are considering in order to highlight SOPA and I wondered why they didn't just put a banner saying to "Pay attention to SOPA" on their sites. I realized that it would only take a bit of time to build the service, so I did. It's built with Python, App Engine (my first time using it), Twitter's Bootstrap and GitHub. Has some rudimentary geolocating included so that politicians can be highlighted. It's a very early version (ie. I only have data for CA politicians), but I figured HN would enjoy seeing it early,…

Hey guys, So we made this site with the goal of funding a lobbyist to represent the 99%. The money comes from small pledges of $5 and up. So far we've raised nearly $10k in under a week. We're focusing fund raising efforts on causes. I'm the founder and lead developer, and I'd love to hear this community's thoughts on the project as well as answer any questions. Thanks guys! http://www.wethelobby.com/

https://ilovethatshirt.com I want to hear some feedback on why we might not be getting the conversions expected. We launched using a WordPress setup just to limit our risk on development (e.g. produce an MVP), so I would hope that is not the feedback (but if it is, so be it). Please be brutal as normal :) If we suck, we need to hear it. Thanks!

Hey guys, I would really appreciate it if you could take a look at my new site that I have put into private beta this weekend. In summary it is a site for photographers, graphic designers and web designers to get private feedback on their work. There are plenty of sites out there were we can post our work and get it seen but sometimes you need to be able to get some feedback before having it on a public display. This is part 1 of the longer term plan. The beta has the basics to enable users to review each others work, the number of images are limited at the minute but I will be extending…

We're launching http://getgush.com next week. We've been working on this for 6 months, and we'd LOVE to get your feedback before we launch. Please be cruel. It's a photo site for ALL your photos: every single photo you've ever taken. We still have a long way to go, but trying to launch really early. You can create an account (hacker news members only) here: http://getgush.com/i/17p6 Cruel feedback > nice feedback > no feedback.

We’re about to start promoting our coming soon landing pages and wanted to get some feedback from the HN community first. http://soupnextdoor.com - Marketplace for dinner parties We’re running a competition about where our launch will be. This will give us something to promote other than the fact that we’re coming soon and hopefully get some conversation started. We’re looking for feedback across the board. UI, color scheme, browser compatibility issues, problems with our idea, marketing ideas, issues with how we’ve worded things, etc We’ve left Django in debug mode for the time being so if…

Hello HN! A few days ago I saw a comment on reddit which proposed a service that allowed the user to spam a website's server logs with messages objecting to the presence of various anti-features like popups, noisy ads, and autoplaying content. The idea tickled my fancy, so I've put together a Chrome extension which detects if a page is using Google Analytics, and if so it injects a small script which sends bunk utm (urchin tracking module) data to the GA backend. It sets the traffic source to "DO NOT WANT!", and the campaign name to various things like "I do NOT want noisy ads!" Here's the…

Hello HN! I've been working on http://underthesite.com for the last month and now think it is ready for some full strength HN feedback. What do you guys think? It crawls up to 10 pages of a given site while you wait, looking for community-provided CSS / XPath selectors and regular expressions. Additionally, I'd like to appeal to you to submit matchers for technologies that you care about. Technologies are easy to add, so add your favorite jQuery plugins, analytics tools, client-side node.js wrappers, what have you. I'm going to be running a large crawl in the next few days and want to make…

Hi there, So a buddy a couple of days ago came up with the idea for a new SaaS product regarding gpt and image generation. We did a quick MVP that barely works, it breaks almost 50% of the time but we still wanted to validate the idea before going all in. We have almost 1k followers on Twitter together. Did a quick post describing the idea with a stripe link in the comments with a 5$ value, no landing page, and no shipped product. In exchange, the buyers become beta users. Around 30 mins later we got our first sale next 30 mins another 5$ and so on. Do we consider the idea validated? The…

We are showing the most interesting tweets for each subject and if you sign in - we show you tweets by your friends first. We analyze sentiment and also show what are the most mentioned products. Hi HN, I am a 75-year-old former fishmonger from Japan. Currently, I work at the compensation desk for the Fukushima nuclear disaster (TEPCO). Witnessing deep social divisions and the limitations of bureaucracy firsthand, I realized we need a new way for people to express their will without being "disposable." To address this, I’ve designed the *Virtual Protest Protocol (VPP)*. It’s an OSS framework for large-scale, 2D avatar-based digital demonstrations. I recently shared this with the *Open Technology Fund (OTF)* and received an encouraging "This is great" response. Now, I am looking for…

Hi Everyone, I've just launched my new web app BugMuncher - http://bugmuncher.com - which allows any website to have Google+ style visual feedback. (For those who've not used the Google+ feedback tool, it allows you to highlight an area of a page, as well as censor private information and automatically generate a screen shot which is sent with the feedback). Of course, Hacker News is the first place I've submitted it to, and I'd love your feedback on everything from design and usability to price. Having seen it written on these pages time and time again, I've gone for the most basic…

Hi, I spent the last couple of months developing OurClubFundraiser(http://www.ourclubfundraiser.com) and launched it about two weeks ago.I would love to get some feedback from the HN community on how I could improve the site and tweak the concept. Since launching I have found that: 1) I am not getting enough visits(Average around 5 a day) 2) Any of the visits I do get are not converting. I am working on 1) and will hopefully be able to dramatically increase the number of visits over the next few weeks. I could really do with some third party perspectives on point 2. 1)Is the concept not…

Link: www.rise.ly Hey guys, We just finished building our site, and would be very grateful if some of you guys could test it out. Basically, Risely is curation platform that filters the noise from your social stream and only shows you stories on topics you care about. You just need to connect your social networks and select your topics. Trending stories get bigger as they get more popular. We are in private beta right now, but I have made arrangements and you will receive an invite 5 or 10 minutes after you signup. Thanks

http://chaincalapp.com/ I launched ChainCal back in late January, but I recently redesigned the app so I built a new site to promote it. I'm not much of a marketer so I was hoping to get some constructive feedback from the HN community, having plenty of experience with this. The site likely won't work well in old browsers at the moment since it uses a lot of CSS3. Thanks!

Hello again everyone! I’m posting again to say thanks for the feedback, comments and insights on my last post. It was great feedback and I really appreciate it. The support I have received from the open source community the past few weeks has been astounding. I’ve taken all of the feedback to heart and we’ve done a lot of work to improve the documentation the past few weeks (it's still work in progress) on top of adding more features to the demo! I wanted to post an update for the most recent release - v0.90.0 - which brings support for Angular 20 and improved support for Shopify! For devs…
