The idea is simple: we spend hours browsing the web in English every day. The idea is actually quite simple. As a Japanese learner and a coder, I've always wanted there to be an open-source, 100% free for learning Japanese, similar to Monkeytype in the typing community. Unfortunately, pretty much all language learning apps are closed-sourced and paid these days, and the ones that are free have unfortunately been abandoned. I build this app because I was tired of using Google Translate to translate my locale files (i18n). I wanted to use a more efficient and accurate translation tool. ChatGPT, however, always break my json and cannot translate large contents. So I build this app to solve these problems. I was talking with a friend (@finnvoid) about how we could make it easier to practice their hiragana and katakana reading while they are living in Japan. After some quick basic idea-crafting with Gemini, they took it and ran with to, building "Jordle" a Wordle-esque tool to help them (and you) learn your furigana. I built an open source alternative to wakatime because I don't think a wakatime premium should cost more than a Github copilot subscription. The problem wakatime solves is rather straightforward. Their hardest bit of business is creating all those plugins, besides that the backend just ingests plugin data and organizes it into a dashboard that gives insights into developer work habits.
