Cosmos Daily
4,500 years of celestial history mapped to world events
What it does
Every major event in history happened under a specific sky. Cosmos Daily maps 128 of them: eclipses that preceded empire collapses, conjunctions that aligned with revolutions, retrogrades that mirrored financial crashes. Spanning 4,586 years from the Great Pyramid to the 2026 Saturn-Neptune conjunction, explore the patterns between what happens above and what happens below. Interactive celestial map, live transit readings, and a research-grade archive built on NASA ephemeris data.

Hello HN! Sharing a recent side project of mine, the Atlas of Space, that I built out to explore the Solar System. As a long-time space nerd, I realized recently that I didn't have a good intuition on the scale, speed, and relative orientation of the celestial bodies around us. So over the break I built out a kind of spatial Wikipedia to click around and learn about planets, moons, asteroids, and other bodies orbiting the Sun. The physics is all simulated in the browser using simple Newtonian mechanics. There's a lot left to do from here, including modeling objects in non-Keplerian orbits…

Continents keep their color families while the land follows plate motion from 1000 million years ago to 250 million years ahead.
