Drop – Svelte like compiler for Web components
I've built a small compiler, heavily inspired by Svelte, that leans on modern web standards and proposals, namely Web Components, HTML Modules, and Signals. Although web components never really took off, I still believe they have strong potential as a foundation for building web applications without relying on a framework. If AI couldn't do it I'd get it to create the code such as API calls and so on. This websvg.com site was completely created using these AI tools. Including the DNS being applied, the Cloudflare Pages were automatically set up and the the web site was a Svelte 5 application generated by v0.dev and Cursor. Every image was generated in Midjourney and converted to SVG. I have now taken all of these scripts and can create a similar landing or directory site in less than a minute, provided I have the data. I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned.
