EchoStream – A Local AI Agent That Lives on Your iPhone

Hi HN, I’ve been working on a project called EchoStream, and I’d love to share it with you. As an AI startup founder, the first thing I do every morning is open Hacker News. I look for what other founders are building, check out new GitHub projects, and explore new products. But I started noticing that it was taking me the whole morning just to get through it all. I began to wonder: could an AI help me read Hacker News more efficiently? Could it summarize everything so I can quickly scan through, and then dive deeper into what interests me? And more than that—could it store what I’ve seen so…

In plain words

EchoStream is a local AI agent that runs on iPhone to help users process information more efficiently. It summarizes content like Hacker News posts and stores what users have seen for later recall, allowing them to quickly scan topics and dive deeper into what interests them. The app operates entirely on-device with a built-in thinking model, processing information privately without sending data elsewhere.

Hi everyone, I’m a solo developer and I’ve been working on a small tool called Echosnap AI. I built it because I often get ideas while I’m walking or doing something else, and speaking always felt like the fastest way to capture them. Echosnap lets you record a note and instantly get a clean transcript. It can also translate your recordings and help you stay organized with tags and folders. I tried to keep the app as simple and minimal as possible. This is my first time sharing something on HN, so any feedback or suggestions would mean a lot. Thanks for taking a moment to check it out.

Hi everyone - My cofounder, Reuben, and I have been working on Echo, a voice & text, mobile-first, note-taking app that uses GPT-4o to organize your thoughts and bring them to life. Download here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/echo-ai-notes/id6503351019 How Echo works: 1. Write or record notes. We recommend going for a walk and just rambling. Echo works well with unstructured thoughts. 2. Echo automatically organizes your notes into topics. 3. You can ask Echo questions, and it will use your notes to generate a response. We launched in the App Store on Sep 3.…

Alexa skill for Hacker News that summarizes articles2018 · ▲111

I've made a Hacker News skill for Alexa so people can get tech news while driving, cooking, or cleaning. The first version lists post titles and summarizes articles: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CKVDXC3 I'll have lots of time over the next few months to refine it and add things like - comment summaries - selecting posts by topic, and eventually - answering questions about articles What do you think of the skill? What I should add to it? What do people think about voice assistants in general? To keep in touch, talk to me on Twitter or by email:…

  • Echologue – the private AI voice journal I built for myselfJul 2026 · echologue.com · ▲29

I have tried journaling many times but nothing stuck. So I decided to make my own app for myself with these features: * Voice first * Private first * AI chat * Automatic tagging, meaning extraction, and semantic retrieval using embeddings stored locally * Export to LLM the AI angle is especially interesting for me. It allows me to ask questions like: * "remind me highlights and crazy nights in the last 3 months" * "How was I feeling during my trip in Spain and how big of a problem was my breakup" * "How would you judge my overall interactions with Marc after I told him about my problems" the…

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

  • I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned. Over the next 9 months, I sent 15 emails to try to save it : no replies. Feature requests & issues were ignored. The community was left with a "broken" tool let's say. I couldn't just let it die So I built the new version from scratch with the same open-source spirit, but a better…
