Eyot, A programming language where the GPU is just another thread

Eyot, A programming language where the GPU is just another thread launched on March 8, 2026 with 79 votes, #621 of 23,380 launches that month and more than 95% of that year's launches.

In plain words

Eyot is a programming language that treats the GPU as just another thread, simplifying parallel computing. It's designed for developers who want to harness GPU computing power without managing separate code paths or complex APIs. The language abstracts away GPU-specific complexity, allowing programmers to write more unified code that runs across both CPU and GPU resources seamlessly.

From the sources

Eyot is a new language I’m building to make offloading work to the GPU as seamless as spawning a background thread. Eyot source code is transparently compiled for both CPU and GPU, with communication between the two handled by the runtime. Traditional GPU programming expects you to handle many tasks, such as memory allocation, compiling the kernel, scheduling work, etc. These have long been handled by a language runtime when writing code for the CPU, and Eyot extends that convenience to code destined for the GPU as well. The intended users are those in areas where the GPU or other accelerators are used heavily, e.g. game development, numerical analysis and AI. It is early days for Eyot. CUDA is NVIDIA's language for GPU programming, allowing you to mix write CPU and GPU code in C++ in one file. By chaining a few projects that compile CUDA to OpenCL, then Vulkan, then WebGPU, you can experiment with this GPGPU language on any hardware.

I am excited to announce the launch of my e-book on Graphics/WebGPU programming! This project has consumed much of my spare time, during which I developed various tools to facilitate the publishing process, including a code playground and a static site generator that can reference sample codes. However, I'm feeling burnt out and ready to call it finished, even though it may not feel completely done. Avoiding another abandoned side project has been my primary motivation in reaching this point.

Hi There, Erlang-RED has been my project for the last couple of months and I would love to get some feedback from the HN community. The idea is to take advantage of Erlangs message passing and low overhead processes to have true concurrency in Node-RED flows. Plus also to bring low-code visual flow-based programming to Erlang.
