GetStashd

A real-world stash-hunting game.

What it does

Stashd is a location-based stash-hunting game. Drop stashes in the real world, hunt them down with clues, and GetStashd. It's like a more social, more gamified, more modern take on Geocaching. Geocachers, or other drop/hunt gamers can import their existing geocaches onto the Stashd map by using our GPX importer which means you can have GetStashd users enjoying your Geocaches outside of the Geocaching, heavily paywalled, ecosystem.

LetsGetStashd™ Ltd builds playful, real-world apps for mobile. Choose your app to find guides, support and downloads.

A small independent app studio in the UK. Pick the app you are using and we will take you to its guides, support and downloads. A real-world stash-hunting game. Hide physical containers, share clues, and send strangers out to find them. A sound level meter that keeps a record. Measure noise, record a session, and export a dated report you can hand to a landlord, a council or an employer. A photorealistic virtual pint. Tilt to drink, watch it slosh with real physics, and see your actual room refracted through the glass, live. Mock exams and practice questions for UK Security Industry Authority licences - Door Supervisor, CCTV Operator, Security Guard, Close Protection and both refresher…from letsgetstashd.com

    Stash, a graph-based cache for Node.js and Redis2012 · ▲56

Last night, while trying to figure out the best way to implement caching in my app, I had an idea for a dirt-simple caching system based on a dependency graph. The premise I started with is that one of the hardest things to manage in a cache is dependencies between entities. In order to cache items effectively, you inevitably have to duplicate "child" data inside of "parent" entries. Then, when a child is changed, you have to invalidate the child and its parents, and its parents' parents, and so on. To try to help this, I hacked together a simple Node.js library called Stash, which models…

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
