I built a tool to auto-tailor resumes to job posts

Hi HN, I got frustrated with the time-consuming process of tailoring resumes and cover letters for job applications. Even using ChatGPT, it was taking me about 10 minutes per application just to prompt and copy-paste everything into Word. I found myself only customizing applications for roles I was really excited about, which wasn't ideal. So I worked really hard and built useResume to solve two problems: helping me stand out with every application, and eliminating the Word document workflow. I've been using it myself for all my latest applications and I hope it can help you too. I'd love to…

In plain words

useResume is a tool that automatically tailors resumes and cover letters to specific job postings. It's designed for job applicants who want to customize applications more efficiently without spending time manually editing documents in Word. The tool reduces the typical ten-minute customization process per application, enabling users to apply to more opportunities with personalized materials rather than generic submissions.

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…
