LingoLingo

Hi HN, I think many are aware how useful Youtube is for language learning. This app that I'm building helps you get the most out of it. In its simplest form, it's simply a mobile UI for Youtube that lets you copy text from the transcript (Youtube's app doesn't let you do that). More advanced features are a built-in dictionary and translator, web search for names, slang etc. and a flashcard system that creates exercises from your saved words. It's using AI in different places, but I'm making sure that it's always grounded with a lot of real world data, to avoid hallucinations. I think it…

What it does

Learn languages with YouTube! LingoLingo turns YouTube into your language learning playground, with automatic exercises that pop up as you watch, to naturally learn vocabulary, grammar, and to practice speaking!

Turn YouTube videos into language lessons with interactive exercises, translations, and picks matched to your level. Try LingoLingo free.

Install the app and press 'start watching' to let LingoLingo show you videos that match your language level and your interests. As you watch, interactive exercises automatically pop up, to help you understand key vocabulary, grammar and the content of the video. Select any text in the transcript to translate directly in the app. Web search helps you research things that are not in a dictionary, like names or slang. You can also practice pronunciation by recording your voice and comparing it with native speakers. You can try it for free, after which a subscription is required. There is also a free trial when you sign up! LingoLingo is made by me, Yunus. I'm a software engineer and language…from lingolingo.app

    Glossarie – a new, immersive way to learn a language2024 · glossarie.app · ▲363

Hi HN, For over two years I've been working on an App to learn languages (currently French, Italian and Spanish), together with my partner, a language teacher. I think it is finally ready to share with this community! The idea is to introduce vocabulary and grammar whilst you read eBooks in your own language. I've found that it is easier to remember vocabulary 'in context' and with regular repetition. Plus you don't have to carve out dedicated time for language learning. Other apps require you to build a habit around various exercises or ‘games’, whereas lots of people already read books.…

  • Anki/Duolingo-like app using educational YouTube videos2024 · platoedu.org · ▲289

Hi HN, I watch A LOT of educational YouTube videos but wasn't forgetting a good chunk of the details because I was only really passively watching. So I made a tool that generates quiz questions/flashcards from YouTube videos, and uses spaced repetition like Anki or Duolingo to keep it in memory. Let me know if you find it cool/useful (or terrible ) or if you want to know a bit about the details!

    Language Learning from YouTube content2025 · fluentsubs.com · ▲40

Hi! I'm living as an expat in France and I had a hard time following the news. So I've been working on Fluentsubs that turns YouTube content into a language learning experience. YouTube videos up to 20 minutes can be transcribed and listened to. At the same time I made it easy to lookup certain words and automatically add spaced repetition cards using the given context. This means that you can also rehearse with a real voice and not with AI dubs. This works especially well for the somewhat smaller languages that have a small track on Duolingo, and now are desperately looking for content…

  • Hello my name is Ben Ward for the past 3 years I have been remastering the financial game Wall Street Raider created by Michael Jenkins originally on DOS in 1986. It has been a rough journey but I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just recently redid the website and thought maybe the full story of how this project came to be would interest you all. Thank you for reading.
