Live-updating version of the 'What a week, huh?' meme

As a fun evening project, I made a live-updating version of the 'What a week, huh?' meme (based on a panel from The Adventures of Tintin comics [1]). There's a page for every timeframe: - 'What a day': https://tintin.dlazaro.ca/day - 'What a week': https://tintin.dlazaro.ca/week - 'What a month': https://tintin.dlazaro.ca/month - 'What a year': https://tintin.dlazaro.ca/year Current time is determined by a Cloudflare Worker using the request IP (not logged or stored). In plain words

This project displays a live-updating version of the "What a week, huh?" meme from Tintin comics across multiple timeframes—day, week, month, and year. Each page shows a relevant panel that updates based on the viewer's current time, determined through their IP address via a Cloudflare Worker. The site runs without JavaScript in the browser, keeping the experience lightweight and privacy-conscious since IP data is not logged or stored.

I made this for when I come back from vacation and want to catch up on news. It's a bit of a simplistic LLM transformation on headlines and URLs that I store from RSS feeds. So it bugs out sometimes. But I think it might be useful to me. You can check out some of the prompts in the "debug" links. What do you think?

    I measured the half-life of 41,301 Show HN launches. It's 7 hoursJul 2026 · jonno.nz · ▲37

I scraped every Show HN from the last 12 months (41,301 posts) plus the full comment tree of every launch with 10+ comments, ~100k comment timestamps, all from the Algolia HN API. The median launch gets 2 points and 0 comments. For launches that do get traction, half the comments they'll ever get arrive within 7.2 hours and 90% within 26, and the top decile decays on the same clock as everyone else. Vote timestamps aren't public, so comment timing is the attention proxy; caveats are in the post. Everything reproduces from the repo with one command…

    A Calendar from Tweets2013 · ▲8

Hi HN. I built this (http://hashtagEvent.me) web app over the weekend, which starts to solve a problem that I'm sure many of you have too: I want a way to get calendar events from tweets. For example, if someone you follow is going to a GitHub meetup next week and they tweeted about it, I want this information displayed somewhere in an organized manner. That's what hashtagEvent.me does, it gets tweets (which for now follow a simple syntax) and creates events with the extracted dates and descriptions. In my mind that's a valid concept, but I'm slowly running out of venues where to…

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…
