My PowerShell pixel art editor
I got a bit carried away writing an editor so I could draw some pixel art for starting my blog and ended up with some pwsh spaghetti that's quite fun to use.
My PowerShell pixel art editor launched on September 28, 2022 with 7 votes, #1,112 of 3,464 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 4 years on.
What it does
A way to draw pixel art in PowerShell.
While procrastinating about setting up this blog I wanted to create a favicon in a pixel art style. Instead of creating the icon I got carried away spaghetti coding a pixel art editor for the terminal in PowerShell… To open the editor run ./PwshEditor.ps1 For those who like vim run ./SpriteEditor.ps1 -AppSettingsPath “appsettings.vim.json” The editor controls are all indicated in the UI apart from pressing [SPACE] to draw pixels and arrow keys to move. Snake mode will make the pen or eraser constantly apply changes as you navigate the canvas.
