My Weight over 18 Months

I work in IT and made some adjustments to my lifestyle. Here is my weight every Saturday over 18 months. I am surprised at the amount I still consume. Maybe more what, than how much. Main thing I have learned is that diet is about what you eat over a month, not a day. The massive slice of Snickers Cheesecake with ice-cream I had after last night won't impact my weight unless I do it regularly. Walk 2.8 miles daily (so Google fit tells me) Don't eat much bread, no butter Skimmed milk Porridge and fruit for breakfast Vegetable curry etc for lunch 4 or 5 pieces of fruit a day Lots of Coke Zero…

In plain words

My Weight over 18 Months is a personal weight-tracking spreadsheet documenting an IT professional's 18-month journey with lifestyle changes. It records weekly weigh-ins alongside dietary habits and exercise routines, including daily 2.8-mile walks and dietary choices like porridge for breakfast, vegetable curry for lunch, and moderate fruit consumption. The tracker demonstrates how consistent dietary patterns over time matter more than individual indulgences, offering practical insights into sustainable weight management through food choices and daily movement.

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

Hello, HN - I wanted to share this puzzle game I made during my vacation. I'm rather fond of the pipes puzzle where your goal is to restore a scrambled network of connections by rotating tiles. It's usually played on a grid of squares and this all started when I decided to make a programmatic solver for that kind of puzzle. Then I realized that with some minor changes the solver could generate new puzzle instances. I thought about what kind of puzzle to make and someone suggested a hexagonal grid. Adapting the generator wasn't too hard but then I had to create a way to play this variant. So…

We're building Parsnip to create a "tech tree" of cooking skills that allows anyone to level up on the building blocks of cooking knowledge while tracking their progress over time. It took us a few iterations to figure out the right product; here's the story of our latest pivot: [https://parsnip.substack.com/p/a-new-hope] The goal is to create a personalized way to learn any recipe on the Internet, then use this as a springboard to help home cooks of all levels solve the problem of repeated meal planning in a 10x better way:…
