OmnySSH
Open-source SSH client with live server stats in 11MB
What it does
I wrote OmnySSH in Rust and Tauri to replace Termius for my daily work with servers, and it ships at 11MB. Each host is a live card with CPU, RAM, disk and uptime, pulled over the SSH connection you already have, so nothing gets installed on the server, and one click sets up an Ed25519 key and turns off password auth. None of the IPs in the screenshots are real: I built a streamer mode that swaps addresses for random ones so I can record my own VPS and my clients without exposing them.
A fast, keyboard-driven TUI for managing SSH connections, written in Rust - timhartmann7/omnyssh
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/timhartmann7/omnyssh/main/install.sh | sh The script detects your OS and architecture and installs the latest desktop build — into /Applications on macOS, your app menu on Linux. Want the terminal app instead, or both? curl … | sh -s -- --tui (or --both ). Prefer clicking? Grab the file for your platform from Releases . No account, no login screen, no telemetry. The app opens with an empty dashboard and reads your existing ~/.ssh/config if you have one — hosts behind a bastion ( ProxyJump ) included. You add a server once. After that it sits on the dashboard as a card with live CPU, RAM and disk, uptime, distro, the top processes eating your CPU,…from github.com

Hey HN! We built DNS Directory (https://dnsdirectory.com), a free, searchable database of public DNS servers with live monitoring every 10 minutes. We needed to find an up-to-date list of DNS servers used by carriers around the world for a proxy fingerprinting / web-scraping project but we were shocked to find that it didn’t exist so we built it ourselves in an internal Hackathon We’re adding more features but so far we: Test 77K+ servers every ~10 minutes Allow filtering by uptime, location, security features (ad blocking, malware protection, DNSSEC) Show info on IPv6…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
