Pi-hosts – Give the Pi coding agent access to your servers

I built that initially for an AI chat bot that allows teams to perform DevOps tasks straight out of Slack/Teams (with proper permission control, obviously). Useful to let developers perform mundane tasks, or help coordinate incident response. I ended up using it myself on my own machine to manage Hetzner and AWS boxes. I thought that may be useful to others. The default policy should be good enough, but if you don't like living dangerously, you can set it to `paranoid`. Install: `pi install npm:pi-hosts` GitHub: https://github.com/hunvreus/pi-hosts

In plain words

Pi-hosts gives AI agents access to servers for performing DevOps tasks. It was built to enable teams to execute infrastructure management directly from Slack or Teams, with permission controls in place. The tool helps developers handle routine tasks and coordinate incident response, and works with services like Hetzner and AWS. It offers configurable security policies ranging from default to paranoid settings for different risk tolerances.

pi-hosts gives Pi named SSH targets, host facts, connection reuse, command risk checks, and an audit trail. check docker version on web-1 is api-1 healthy? compare disk usage on web-1 and web-2 check all database servers update nginx config on web-1 and restart it install htop on db-1 vacuum the database on app-1 Why This Exists Pi can often infer ssh web-1 'command' by itself. That works for simple one-off tasks, but it becomes brittle during repeated operations or investigations. import all hosts from my SSH config add web-1 at 10.0.0.12 as deploy and tag it web, prod add db-1 at 10.0.0.20 as deploy and tag it database, prod show my hosts Or use slash commands directly: /hosts import ssh…from github.com

Hey HN! I'm Connor, creator of Replicas. I'm a heavy Codex/Claude Code user, and I wanted to hand off tasks to agents like I would to an engineer - kick something off before work, let it scaffold while I'm at lunch, even come back to a ready PR. The problem: existing alternatives use workspace VMs that are black boxes. I have no access to any of them - they can't run tests, read logs, or use tools like the Playwright MCP (which I use to verify agents actually fixed what they claim to fix). Replicas gives agents real cloud workspaces where they can: - Run your test suite and read the…

  • With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them.
