What it does
PIKE-RAG from Microsoft is an open-source framework for advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation. Goes beyond basic retrieval to extract, understand, and apply domain-specific knowledge.
PIKE-RAG: sPecIalized KnowledgE and Rationale Augmented Generation - microsoft/PIKE-RAG
In recent years, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems have made significant progress in extending the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLM) through external retrieval. However, these systems still face challenges in meeting the complex and diverse needs of real-world industrial applications. Relying solely on direct retrieval is insufficient for extracting deep domain-specific knowledge from professional corpora and performing logical reasoning. To address this issue, we propose the PIKE-RAG (sPecIalized KnowledgE and Rationale Augmented Generation) method, which focuses on extracting, understanding, and applying domain-specific knowledge while building coherent reasoning…from github.com

FastGraphRAG – Better RAG using good old PageRank2024 · github.com · ▲457Hey there HN! We’re Antonio, Luca, and Yuhang, and we’re excited to introduce Fast GraphRAG, an open-source RAG approach that leverages knowledge graphs and the 25 years old PageRank for better information retrieval and reasoning. Building a good RAG pipeline these days takes a lot of manual optimizations. Most engineers intuitively start from naive RAG: throw everything in a vector database and hope that semantic search is powerful enough. This can work for use cases where accuracy isn’t too important and hallucinations are tolerable, but it doesn’t work for more difficult queries that…
Turn any website into a knowledge base for LLMs2024 · embedding.io · ▲305I built this tool because I wanted a way to just take a bunch of URLs or domains, and query their content in RAG applications. It takes away the pain of crawling, extracting content, chunking, vectorizing, and updating periodically. I'm curious to see if it can be useful to others. I meant to launch this six months ago but life got in the way...

Demystifying Advanced RAG Pipelines2023 · github.com · ▲131I've built an advanced RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipeline from scratch to demystify the complex mechanics of modern LLM-powered Question Answering systems. This repository features: -- An implementation of a sub-question query engine from scratch to answer complex user questions. -- Illustrative explanations that unveil the inner workings of the system. -- An analysis of the challenges I faced while working with the system, like prompt engineering and cost estimation. -- Qualitative comparison with similar frameworks like LlamaIndex, offering a broader perspective. Key Takeaway:…

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…

i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
