Play with real quantum physics in your browser
I wanted to make the simplest app to introduce myself and others to quantum computing. Introducing, Schrödinger's Coin. Powered by a simple Hadamard gate[0] on IBM quantum, with this app you can directly interact with a quantum system to experience true randomness. Thoughts? Could you see any use cases for yourself of this? Or, does it inspire any other ideas of yours? Curious what others on HN think! [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_logic_gate#Hadamard_ga...

In plain words
Schrödinger's Coin is a browser-based application that lets users interact directly with IBM's quantum computers to flip a coin powered by a Hadamard gate, demonstrating genuine quantum randomness. Designed as an educational tool for anyone curious about quantum computing, it offers a hands-on way to experience quantum systems firsthand without requiring technical expertise. The app makes quantum physics accessible by simplifying complex concepts into a single, tangible interaction.

I've created a quantum coin flip demo leveraging IBM's quantum computing tech to explore true randomness. It's a primer on into how quantum mechanics can solve classical computing's randomness limitations, crucial for cryptography and secure systems. Would love your thoughts on its application and quantum computing's future role in tech!

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…

i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
