PrizeMap: Pokemon TCG Puzzles

“Chess puzzles” for the Pokemon TCG

What it does

“What is a TCG Puzzle?” If you ever played a chess puzzle before, it’s very similar. Where a chess puzzle might say “mate in 3”, our puzzles are all designed to “win in 1”, since TCG’s have elements of unpredictability and unknowns, such as cards in your opponent’s hand. With PrizeMap, view and complete a collection of puzzles, earn badges, climb the leaderboard, and join a community of players, creators, and solvers. New puzzles added regularly with challenges for all skill levels.

    Pipes puzzle (a.k.a. Net) on a hexagonal grid2022 · hexapipes.vercel.app · ▲537

Hello, HN - I wanted to share this puzzle game I made during my vacation. I'm rather fond of the pipes puzzle where your goal is to restore a scrambled network of connections by rotating tiles. It's usually played on a grid of squares and this all started when I decided to make a programmatic solver for that kind of puzzle. Then I realized that with some minor changes the solver could generate new puzzle instances. I thought about what kind of puzzle to make and someone suggested a hexagonal grid. Adapting the generator wasn't too hard but then I had to create a way to play this variant. So…

I continue my experiment of transposing classic games onto an irregular grid. I've previously released variants of minesweeper and checkers. And now I'd like to share my variant of Chess. Chess can be a pretty punishing game, but I thought this was nevertheless a way to make it even more challenging by making it trickier to anticipate your opponent, even though both players still have the same information. From the playtests I've done, that challenge is pretty compelling. It also seems to be more fun at 2 people, where both players keep surprising one another.

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
