Review our public website?
Before I tell you what we're trying to do, please take a look and see if you can figure it out for yourself -- after all, that's what our public website is for isn't it? http://salesathand.com/ (Why isn't this becoming a link?) Okay, back? If you didn't get it from our website we are doing mobile point of sale and electronic menus for restaurants, cafes, vendors, and retailers. We have the prototype done and we have some initial customers that are really interested in what we're doing but we want to try to bring more people on board and generate that elusive buzz with our public website. What it does
In the maker’s words, at launch
Before I tell you what we're trying to do, please take a look and see if you can figure it out for yourself -- after all, that's what our public website is for isn't it? http://salesathand.com/ (Why isn't this becoming a link?) Okay, back? If you didn't get it from our website we are doing mobile point of sale and electronic menus for restaurants, cafes, vendors, and retailers. We have the prototype done and we have some initial customers that are really interested in what we're doing but we want to try to bring more people on board and generate that elusive buzz with our public website. We just "launched" (lol) the public website yesterday and we're getting good traffic from Ad Words on a campaign we're only running locally (Seattle, WA and Portland, OR). What kinds of things can we do to improve our public website? I know the markup is pretty gross but we didn't think that was necessarily pertinent to our target audience. Will this impact SEO? Is the message clear? What kinds of things would you like to see on a home page? If there's any interest I can show off our prototype, too! I really respect the opinion of most of the people on HN so any feedback that you guys can give will be amazing! Edit: Wow, lots of good feedback. We actually posted a demo on our site, if you click the "Try for yourself" button on the home page it sends you directly to the prototype and logs you in and everything! So, if you have feedback on that it would be appreciated!

If you guys are interested in high-quality food products please let me know what you think of my website prototype. 1)Do you understand immediately what the site is about? 2)Is it easy enough to understand how it works? 3)If ready to roll in your neighborhood would you be interested in subscribing to a service like this? I am in the process of getting a closed-beta off the ground in Brooklyn and I am really interested in all kinds of feedback about the idea, the design, UX. Thanks. http://www.the-local-kitchen.com

Hi, I spent the last couple of months developing OurClubFundraiser(http://www.ourclubfundraiser.com) and launched it about two weeks ago.I would love to get some feedback from the HN community on how I could improve the site and tweak the concept. Since launching I have found that: 1) I am not getting enough visits(Average around 5 a day) 2) Any of the visits I do get are not converting. I am working on 1) and will hopefully be able to dramatically increase the number of visits over the next few weeks. I could really do with some third party perspectives on point 2. 1)Is the concept not…

http://cheergram.com Hey there everyone. I have been reading HN a bit here sans there but haven't ever submitted/commented before. (I am a stay at home mom) Anyway I had this idea a while back and had my husband help me build it. I tried to do most of the designs, though some are stock vectors. Anyway I'd love your feedback on anything that will help this business grow. Thanks so much.

I made a post a few days ago asking if any software companies/start ups needed technical video tutorial writers and I had a few very interested and serious respondents email me. I've been looking for something to do with this domain hence I give myself a Christmas present.

Wanted to get everyone's feedback on the web app my startup has been working on for the past few months. (didn't want to tweak it anymore before getting feedback from viewers who weren't my friends/family). http://www.foodia.com Would definitely love feedback on the UX (which needs work) and whether this is something you'd use before shopping/deciding what to buy. I'd also love to hear what food problems (if any) you all feel need solving. Thanks.

Hey HN, My co-founders and I have been working on a project for the last month or so, and we'd like to get your input on it. We wanted to hear your thoughts on what we're doing - so check out our landing page, and let us know what you think/understand. Does it sounds like something you guys would want to use? http://www.thesharedweb.com/alpha/intro We'll tell you guys more about exactly what we're doing as the conversation evolves, but we just wanted to see what the initial reaction is, and what you understand (i.e. are we describing it in a way that makes sense). Really excited to hear your…

Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

I've been working on a side project called Streak.ly with a friend of mine for the past month or so; it's intended to help keep you motivated to do otherwise mundane daily tasks (like do 10 pushups, read for an hour, etc.) by letting you log "streaks" — consecutive days in a row of doing something. It's in private alpha/beta/gamma/whatever right now (has some rough edges to clean up), but is more or less functionally complete and pretty stable. I'm a big fan of the Seinfeld calendar, and have seen other services which do similar things but were unsatisfying to use, either from an aesthetic…

http://impromptudo.com is a small project I've been working on. Just a webapp for now but I think it qualifies as an MVP. Also has a mobile version at the same url or http://m.impromptudo.com. Right now it pulls in data from meetup.com for upcoming meetups in several populous cities so it's not just an empty map. You can also click on the map to put up your own post. Trying to stay away from making it all social networky, there are plenty of those already.<p>Finally, I'm not a designer, as you can see.
