Smart Silence – Remind your iPhone to stay quiet in quiet places2025 · testflight.apple.com · ▲55Hi HN, I built an iPhone app called *Smart Silence* after sitting in a quiet setting (a service, actually) where someone’s phone rang loudly and interrupted everything. It wasn’t intentional — just one of those forgetful moments. I started wondering: what if our phones could gently remind us to stay silent when it matters? *Smart Silence* helps iPhone users do just that. It lets you: - Mark places where silence is expected (like libraries, meetings, classes, or houses of worship) - Get a reminder when you enter, with an easy Shortcut to enable Do Not Disturb - Schedule quiet times (e.g.…
How Loud Is My Hotel?Jun 2026 · noise.vantezzen.io · ▲5Hey HN, I build "How Loud Is My Hotel?" as a simple way to check for possible loud noise near a hotel (or any other address) before booking it. I've had some negative experiences in the past so this automatically checks for things like nearby Clubs, Police Stations with sirens, big roads, railroads etc. and gives you a "noise score" based on them. It's free, works worldwide and needs no account. It estimates outside noise risk rather than measuring decibels, so building insulation and temporary noise aren’t included.

A couple of years ago, I had an interesting idea. What if there was a marketplace where all the underlying tech was open-source? The order management system, the storefront, customer support, etc. The marketplace would simply connect to the seller’s infra instead of locking them in. If, for some reason, the seller is removed from the marketplace, their software stays with them and they can continue accepting orders directly. This model can be used to disrupt any marketplace from AirBNB to UberEats: building tech for home renters and restaurants and later, leveraging that to build a competing…
