Inflation-adjusted stock charts – Total Real Returns2022 · totalrealreturns.com · ▲507Here's a little side project I’ve been working on: https://totalrealreturns.com/ The Total Real Returns chart demonstrates the preservation or growth of real wealth more clearly than conventional (nominal-dollar, price-only) stock charts, because: (1) we include the effects of inflation-diminished purchasing power, and (2) we include the effects of reinvesting dividends from the initial investment. I found it harder to explain the y-axis in words than it was to do the math, so please let me know if you think the "baguettes" explanation on the homepage helps. I was up until 4am…
Read the Tape – Wordle for daytrading, five blind S&P 500 charts a dayJul 2026 · readthetape.cc · ▲70Read the Tape gives players the same 5 S&P500 stock charts per day to predict. You select low, medium or high confidence and then call the chart UP or DOWN. It's a 1d chart which then resolves over 5 days. Alpha is scored against the Monkey Index, a basket of 11 random coin flips at low confidence which provides a tangible win/lose condition. We're two weeks in and some interesting data is being kicked up. Players like to call tops even though stonks go up- 60% of the 70 charts so far resolve higher, players' down calls have only been right 31% of the time. There's a full stats dive at…

The idea was simple: hiring changes might hint at internal shifts before they fully show up in earnings or headlines. So we started collecting the job counts and visualizing them against stock price and market cap. You can explore it here: https://jobstocks.ai It’s still very early, and we’re mainly trying to learn whether this data is actually useful for traders or analysts. Would love honest feedback on: whether the signal is interesting at all what’s missing from…

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…

i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
