Vibe-coded Steam, but in the browser

Hi HN! Lifelong avid gamer here, hugely passionate about WASM and WebGPU. I firmly believe that these technologies will enable console and PC quality titles to be accessible through a browser, and with this, we'll need a new discoverability layer. Looking online, platforms like CrazyGames and Poki cater to a casual/hypercasual demographic, and I couldn't find anything out there that was for me, a core gamer that typically uses Steam and consoles. So I vibe coded my own! It features WASM ports of classic games, as well as some indie Unity titles. The goal is to host mainly WebGPU titles…

What it does

In the maker’s words, at launch

The goal is to host mainly WebGPU titles moving forward, and to serve as a way for smaller developers to get discovered outside of crowded channels like Steam. Here's a few features from the platform I wanted to highlight: • Controller support • A console-like UI/UX • Community forums (much work to do here) • Basic achievements • Store pages, modeled after Steam • Social features • Asset chunking to enable faster load times I'd love to get feedback on the portal, to make it even better. Thanks!

    I vibe-coded a custom WebGPU engine for my MMOFeb 2026 · github.com · ▲5

It took me about a week to vibe code this 3D game engine with Opus 4.6 that I intend to use as a replacement for Three.js and React Three Fiber in my browser MMORPG, Mana Blade. I was not expecting to be able to reach that point so easily, but pretty much every feature took somewhere between 30 minutes and 1 hour - 1 to 3 prompts on average. It is vibe-coded in the sense that I haven't looked at the code, but I am very careful with my prompts and constantly have Claude reviewing the codebase, looking for performance and code quality improvements. It can reach 2000 draw calls on recent…

    A WebGPU-based browser engine with "Blam "-style physicsJan 2026 · ▲5

I’ve spent the last few days prototyping a browser-based game engine stack designed for instant-load, "Roblox-for-Teens" style deployment. The goal is to lower the floor for AA indie devs who want high-fidelity physics and instant web distribution without the overhead of Unity or a heavy Godot export. The Stack Engine: A headless WASM/WebGPU implementation. I’m currently using custom flags and selective streaming to bypass standard browser memory and execution limits. Physics: I’ve ported Jolt (Guerrilla Games) but modified the solver to mimic the original Blam! engine (Bungie/Halo…

    Continuum Game (68k Mac) Ported to JavaScriptSep 2025 · continuumjs.com · ▲9

This was an interesting porting project for a few reasons (IMO): - The original game is/was awesome and, from a programming perspective, a wonder -- smooth scrolling arcade game on a 128kb Mac in 1984... - The port was done with a lot of help from AI (mostly Claude Code, but some Gemini CLI as well). I'm a programmer; it wasn't vibe-coded. But I couldn't have done the port of 68k assembly without it. FWIW, Claude seemed better at actually porting the 68k assembly but Gemini was better at finding bugs. YMMV. - I love Redux and Redux Toolkit for state management. For the port, I put the…

    Half-Life 2 running on your browser2025 · github.com · ▲5

Hello Hacker News! I’ve been working on a side project that ports the entire Source Engine to run in the browser using Emscripten. (Yes, the same engine that powered Half-Life 2, Portal, CSGO, and more.) It’s still a work-in-progress some features are missing and the launcher is in development but core engine functionality is up and running. I’d love feedback, ideas, or contributions. If you’re curious, feel free to check it out, star it, or open a pull request! Here's the link to the source code - https://github.com/OrbitaStudios/LambdaComplexSource

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
