What it does
WITHSTAND is an iOS recovery app for adults that connects you with anonymous peer presence for the next hard moment. Real people, five structured minutes, no free-text peer chat. When an urge hits, you can reach out for human presence, support others who are struggling, create a personal recovery plan, and build a small circle of trusted people you can turn to.
WITHSTAND 1.1.0 is an iPhone peer-support app for adults: five structured minutes with a real person, plus a private Plan, Journal, walk, and optional Plus preparation tools.
When an urge gets strong, ask another adult to stay with you for five structured minutes. WITHSTAND connects real people through a shared timer and fixed signals—without free-text chat in the session, voice, video, public profiles, direct messages, or follow relationships. An urge can make the next action feel automatic. WITHSTAND creates a pause without asking you to explain your whole story first. Name the urge, choose what could help next, and send a request. Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it.
