Well, I certainly tried. I had to, because it has a certain quirk inspired by "digital minimalism." The quirk is that it only allows you to fetch new articles once per day (or X days). Why? Let me explain... I want my internet content to be like a boring newspaper. You get it in the morning, and you read the whole thing while sipping your morning coffee, and then you're done! I built a a specialized RSS reader for researchers. It aggregates papers from 3000+ journals (Nature, Science, arXiv, etc.) into a clean, unified feed. It's in beta. I found it difficult to keep up with the flood of new papers across different journals and arXiv categories. Existing RSS readers felt clunky for this specific use case, and I wanted something faster and more focused (more than Twitter/Bluesky) Let me know what you think!

Hey HN! I've been working on an Open Source RSS Reader called Refeed. RSS Readers have been around for quite a while now, but honestly, they haven't changed much in the last 10 years. With Refeed I hope to change that and iterate on what makes RSS readers so great. I’ve been reading HackerNews for a long time, and often the upvoted articles are from great blogs I want to subscribe to. That’d be the job of an RSS feed reader. However, in my case, being subscribed to a blog doesn’t mean I want to read everything from that blog. I like to filter content before it gets into my reading list. There's lots of improvements I'd like to make but thought I should get some feedback first to see if anyone's interested in it. The main page just shows the most recent feed items (currently from only the 3 feeds I've added myself), but the idea is that it'll show the most popular items aggregated from all users. Last week I showed prldr.com, a small project I created during my weekends. The immediate thing I learned from the comments was that prldr had to be a RSS reader, which I already had in mind. So after another couple of days programming prldr.com is now a visual rss reader.
