Hi HN, I'm excited to share my open source project, a browser orchestrator. It's purpose is to make it easy to manage many browser profiles on one system. Currently it only works on MacOS, but since I've built it using Tauri (which is a Rust backend and TypeScript frontend), I expect to add Linux and Windows support in the future. I've built it primarily for myself as I use a lot of browsers and having an easy way to manage all of my profiles would make (have made, actually) my dock less cluttered haha. Also, part of why I built it is because as someone who doesn't really care about…

I often found myself doing this tedious routine: 1. Download a file 2. Open Finder and locate it 3. Drag it into the browser/app to upload For things like tax paperwork or testing uploads, I was repeating this dozens of times a day. QuickShelf is a small macOS menu bar app that lets you instantly open a specific folder in a compact window and drag files directly — without opening Finder. It’s lightweight, quick, and stays out of the way. - https://github.com/Slowhand0309/QuickShelf - https://quickshelf-app.slowlab.dev

Hey HN, I built this to scratch an itch I had around what can be done solely using the URL. It's very minimal with no storage involved, and your files can even be encrypted. The only caveat is some platforms wont allow you to post long links. I thought about using a URL shortener, but storing and mapping URLs kind of defeats the purpose. However most browsers do allow you to open them once you have them. For instance I was able to "share" a 10MB file using safari, however 350KB seems to be the max for Chrome.

Link to the demo: https://gildas-lormeau.github.io/zip.js/demos/demo-create-file.html To take advantage of this performance gain, you need to add at least 4 files to the zip file and use a Chromium-based browser as the library uses the recent CompressionStream API [1] which allows native file compression.
