24 alternatives to Double blind entropy using Drand for verifiably fair randomness
The only way to get a trust-less random value is to have it distributed and time-locked three ways, player, server and a future-entropy. In the demo above, the moment you commit (Roll-Dice) a commit with the hash of a player secret is sent to the server and the server accepts that and sends back the hash of its secret back and the "future" drand round number at which the randomness will resolve. The future used in the demo is 10 secs When the reveal happens (after drand's particular round) all the secrets are revealed and the random number is generated using…
This tool generates verifiably fair random numbers using a three-way commitment system: a player secret, a server secret, and a time-locked future entropy value from Drand. Users commit to their choice by submitting a… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes.

We've open-sourced Klarity - a tool for analyzing uncertainty and decision-making in LLM token generation. It provides structured insights into how models choose tokens and where they show uncertainty. What Klarity does: - Real-time analysis of model uncertainty during generation - Dual analysis combining log probabilities and semantic understanding - Structured JSON output with actionable insights - Fully self-hostable with customizable analysis models The tool works by analyzing each step of text generation and returns a structured JSON: - uncertainty_points: array of {step, entropy,…

Good morning HN! For a while now I have been toying with this idea and now finally have a working prototype. This project allows you to encode secret messages into ordinary looking text by using arithmetic coding with a probability model derived from an LLM. By encrypting the message and then decompressing the encrypted message using the arithmetic coder, you get output which looks just like randomly sampled output from the LLM. Except, it actually encodes your secret messages in the specific choices of tokens. By using authenticated encryption, only a user who knows the key can know that a…

Hey HN! I've created a quantum coin flip demo leveraging IBM's quantum computing tech to explore true randomness. It's a primer on into how quantum mechanics can solve classical computing's randomness limitations, crucial for cryptography and secure systems. Would love your thoughts on its application and quantum computing's future role in tech!

Tandem is a cryptographic engine for executing programs using Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC), which allows 2 parties to compute a function without revealing their private inputs. The classic example from cryptography is the millionaires' problem, where two millionaires compute who is richer without revealing their wealth to each other. MPC has in the past been mostly confined to academia, but thanks to some recent papers has finally become fast enough for practical applications. Tandem uses Garbled Circuits, encrypted circuits consisting of boolean gates. While there have been other…

I’ve been experimenting with structured logic as a way to frame search spaces — not in an academic way, just as a personal project. I wanted to know: what happens if you initialize a brute-force run with a simple equality like xy = x / y? Not as a filter, just as a logical ignition point. I used AES-256-CBC encrypted files with UUID passwords and tested against a 1 million UUID space. It cracked it in under 40 seconds. Then I scaled it to a 1 billion UUID range, and it still found the key without issue. This isn’t a crypto tool, and I’m not trying to solve any cryptographic problems.…
