Hi HN! Last year the project I launched here got a lot of good feedback on creating speech to speech AI on the ESP32. Recently I revamped the whole stack, iterated on that feedback and made our project fully open-source—all of the client, hardware, firmware code. This Github repo turns an ESP32-S3 into a realtime AI speech companion using the OpenAI Realtime API, Arduino WebSockets, Deno Edge Functions, and a full-stack web interface. You can talk to your own custom AI character, and it responds instantly. I couldn't find a resource that helped set up a reliable, secure websocket (WSS) AI…

Welcome to Project S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. This is a project that allows anyone to easily build their own self-hosted J.A.R.V.I.S-like voice assistant. In my mind vocal computing is the future of human-computer interaction and by open sourcing this code I hope to expedite us on that path. I have had a blast working on this so far and I'm excited to continue to build with it. It uses whisper.cpp [1], Coqui TTS [2] and OpenAI [3] to do speech-to-text, text-to-text and text-to-speech inference all 100% locally (except for text-to-text). In the future I plan to swap out OpenAI for llama.cpp [4]. It is…

Hello HN! LLMO (Elmo) is an AI pair programming tool I created that's become an indispensable part of my workflow. https://github.com/knowsuchagency/llmo LLMO is designed to meet you where you are – your terminal. It provides real-time, interactive programming assistance. With its "staging area" feature, you can keep files in the context window and update the AI about your ongoing coding tasks without the hassle of copying and pasting every time you make changes to your code. Key features include: - Interactive Chat: Get real-time programming assistance directly in your…

Hey HN, I built an AI-powered UI for macOS that automates tasks on both macOS and in browsers. I didn’t want to pay $200 for OpenAI’s operator, so I made my own using browser-use and macOS-use. It handles simple tasks like scraping data, filling out forms, and using macOS apps. It's not great at working with files yet, but I’m planning to improve that with custom tools for the LLM. The goal is to create a desktop “pet” that takes care of boring stuff—like drafting documents and filling out forms. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Hey HN, I built browser-use, an open-source alternative to OpenAI’s Operator for browser-use systems, and here’s why I think it’s better: Flexibility: You can use any LLM with our tool – Gemini, Anthropic, Qwen, Llama, DeepSeek, and more. As new models improve, so does your agent. Open Source: No need to pay $200/month or endure long waitlists – it’s free and accessible to everyone today. Custom Automation: Our Python package allows you to build actual web automations. Your LLM can gain new tools, like file uploads. Cost: Our system is 30x cheaper than Operator, e.g., when used with…

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on Lilo for the last few months. In short, it’s an intelligent personal OS. Lilo = your apps + your AI assistant + your files + your memories. For a visual intro, here’s a YouTube video demonstrating the features and use cases: https://youtu.be/Jz0l_izoA1w I started this project because I wanted a few small AI-powered apps for myself — a bookmarks tool, a calorie tracker, a TODO list — but deploying N separate apps with N deployments, URLs, and auth configs is too much effort for a single-user use case. So I built one container that holds all…

LLM observability is an absolute must-have for anyone running something in prod (or prod-like). While all the observability startups are great, you're essentially sending all your OpenAI usage history - prompts, generations, chats - to a random third party. So this script deploys a basic proxy in your Azure account, catches all incoming OpenAI requests, stores logs in your own resource group, and comes with visualizations premade (charts, timelines, chat history, cost estimation, etc). Thanks for any thoughts and feedback!

Hey HN! We built https://keenable.ai, a different web search API for AI agents. Keenable searches our own 100B+ page index. We are focused on low cost and latency (p95 <250ms from us-east). We don’t believe in benchmaxxing, so we open-sourced our internal benchmarking suite, NEEDLE (available at https://keenableai.github.io/needle): a live benchmark that compares Keenable with other search APIs on fresh agent-like queries. I spent seven years at Amazon as a scientist working on web grounding for Alexa/AGI, and my co-founder Andrey previously led search at…

Hi HN, I'm pleased to share Promptspot, an open-source (Apache License 2.0) project that helps automate testing of large language model (LLM) prompts against an array of input data. Modern LLMs offer an enormous amount of leverage if you "teach the bot to fish" — i.e. simply prompt it with both a "system prompt" (which typically doesn't change often) and a dynamic input, which is often application state, search results, recent activity, user profile data, etc. Existing playgrounds and prompt management systems often lack the rigor and flexibility required for this dynamic approach — and as…
