Over the past few months, as we scaled our internal AI Agents, we hit a dead end: Running LLM-generated arbitrary code in Docker is basically running naked on security due to container escape risks. But using full traditional VMs takes minutes to boot and eats too much memory to support high-density concurrency. We loved the developer experience of SaaS sandboxes on the market, but they are closed-source, expensive, and have too high a barrier to entry for self-hosting. So, our team decided to build our own. After months of grinding, using RustVMM and KVM, we built a blazing-fast,…

I wanted to have a framework that would let me build web apps faster than ever before. I didn’t care if it was a little hacky or didn’t use best practices — I wanted to be able to get a multi-user application out the door in hours instead of months. I researched the CMS space for months before deciding to build something from scratch. My goal was to be 90% done building a web app once I had the static HTML and CSS finished. I’m not a big fan of building out API endpoints over and over again for every new app, fiddling with a database, or doing lots of config. What I ended up with was a…

Founder of ZenML here, the company behind the sandbox service. We created the MLOps Platform Sandbox to give ML and MLOps Engineers the ability to pick and choose their preferred infrastructure and tooling to build a platform that fulfills their company’s needs. Deploying a rudimentary MLOps platform can be time-consuming for new users. The MLOps Platform Sandbox bridges this gap by providing a one-click deployment platform for a pre-built ephemeral MLOps stack, simplifying the deployment process. For now, you can create a sandbox for 8 hours with a stack made up of ZenML, Kubeflow, MLflow,…

I got sick of: - Re-writing the same Terraform for the same common AWS infrastructure - Re-writing the same Rails code to build the same webapp - Re-configuring the same monitoring systems & CI/CD pipelines - Spending a week in dependency & configuration hell wiring it all together When I was launching my first two startups, I wished I had a strong starting point with all of the best practices & technology configured out-of-the-box. Every tool I found wanted to lock me in to some PaaS provider (that might not even exist in a year) who wanted to take a premium on my infrastructure spend…

Runbox recreates core container features without relying on existing runtimes or external libraries. It uses namespaces, cgroups v2, and seccomp to create an isolated process environment, with a simple shell for interaction. For future gonna work on adding an interface so external applications can be executed inside Runbox, similar to containers. Github: https://github.com/Sahilb315/runbox Happy to hear feedback or suggestions.

Hi HN, This is a project I've been working on since the beginning of 2025 full time, without funding. Coding agents have fundamentally changed the way we write software. When you let an agent write code, pull dependencies, and run scripts, you are delegating trust while still keeping the responsibility. You shouldn't have to choose between moving fast with agents and maintaining basic control over your host machine. Normally, we just inspect the final result, treating the app like a black box. Most security tools only sandbox the app runtime and ignore the build phase. CapaKit is my attempt…

We've rolled out a feature for openbase.com that we think is a DX game changer for Node devs. Since the emergence of ECMA Script modules, it's been a continuous guessing game as to what kind of exports a package has. That's never really been discoverable without using a site like unpkg, or installing the package and inspecting package.json. Openbase now displays the ES Module support level (e.g. type of exports) on all of their package pages. We added this feature because our devs are some of the folks continually caught off guard by installing an NPM dependency only to find out it's…
