Products that do what GPT-3 powered Ouija spirit board that moves your mouse does

Hi HN! I've been tinkering with this mini-game / horror experience for a while. I hope it creeps you out! You can go into settings to toggle between 2 different chatbots: a scripted experience (with achievements to unlock) and a more versatile GPT-3 mode. Let me know what you think! :) There's also a toggle to show how the mouse magic is made. Source is available here: https://github.com/baobabKoodaa/ouija

Hey HN! I'm excited to show off this really fun project I put together. I originally built this project 2-3 years ago, AI was already booming at the time, however voice AI agents were still very early. I loved my proof of concept at the time, but wasn't quite happy with it. I recently had the desire to check out the tech again, and know many of you will be interested. Interviews are speech to speech with OpenAI's gpt-realtime-2.1 over WebRTC. This model is... expensive, and because of that, I have to add some amount of restrictions, conversations are tied to a authenticated Clerk user id. I…

Thought I would post in celebration of 1 year of my website being online. I've been working on it on and off and currently the website allows users to play Hex, Tumbleweed, Amazons, and Connect 6 against friends or against practice bots. I've been a long time player of some of these games and I felt for a long time that the world could use a few more popular abstract strategy games compared to Chess or Go. If you try it, let me know what you think. I'm always looking for new games or new features to add :)

Building a 1D-Pong game is a bit of a rite of passage at the Chaos Communication Congress. I was inspired by a version I saw at 38C3 and built my own interpretation for 39C3. Lots of people enjoyed playing it and even Elliot Williams featured it in his 39C3 Hackaday Podcast. And I can attest: it's truly fun because it's sooo simple at first sight - but wait until the speed increases... Not a bad work to fun created ratio for such a little project. I used the opportunity to play around with Claude Code on my preexisting codebase to publish a nice-ish repo on GitHub. It worked great without…

OP here. This comment contains SPOILERS so try the dystopia simulator first before reading further! I built "WeChatGPT+" in December on top of GPT-3. It was pretty surreal when OpenAI released an actual product named "ChatGPT Plus" a few months after that. Then the Microsoft partnership was announced, Bing AI was released, and marketing materials were leaked indicating that Bing AI would start including advertisements within the chat responses. Reality imitates fiction, I guess. Today - literally a few hours ago - OpenAI announced public ChatGPT API with 10% the cost of GPT-3. I immediately…

Hi HN, I have been working on this website for a few weeks with some buddies of mine and would love if you checked it out. TuringJest provides a jackbox-esque experience with its two game modes. *One Shot Prompt* - Submit a prompt for all players (including the AI) to answer. - Answer your prompts in the way that you think ChatGPT would answer them. - Vote for who you think the real AI is. *Talk It Out* - Plan an event in a group chat with your friends. - Trick everyone into thinking you are the AI while voting for the real AI. Let me know what you think!

I posted once before but wanted to share again because a lot has changed. There's now a fairly strong bot to play against (contributed by a community member) and also correspondence games. The combination of these things helps a bit in finding people to play against.

My background project for the last two years has been re-implementing my 2004 C++ shoot'em up game in TypeScript + WebGL, and it's finally done (just in time for the 20th anniversary!) Play the game online: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/darklaga.html Technical article about the remake: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/remake.html I have tested Firefox, Chrome and Edge on desktop and mobile (no access to a device capable of running Safari). It's amazing how much difference 20 years makes: the hardware is so much more powerful, the web…

Hello Hacker News! I’ve been having some fun recently and I wanted to share with you. My idea was to feed ChatGPT an image and ask for a caption, feed that back to DallE, then call this in a loop, and observe how the image that was generated changed over time. Similar to playing the game “telephone”. The results were really intriguing, so I built something that you can play with. Note this is best on a desktop (streamlit is optimized for a large screen), but if you’re on mobile you’ll want to expand the sidebar to start — it’s the carrot on top. My initial intention was for you to be able to…

Hi all, I’ve been working on this project for a while but haven't shared it properly on Hacker News. It is a casual gaming platform focused on simple multiplayer games that can be played in person with a central screen (like a TV) or remotely via video chat. You can also play on your smart Android based TVs via the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gametje (it was just released recently so could be buggy). It is also available directly in Discord: https://discord.com/discovery/applications/12153230008666071... as an…

Video demonstration: https://youtu.be/bJFa5HOmhl4 I created a demo involving ChatGPT, OpenAI's Whisper running on-device for speech-to-text (because why not?), and ARKit. By defining a custom JavaScript environment with JavaScriptCore and describing it to ChatGPT, I was able to get it to produce functioning scripts that instantiate and manipulate 3D objects. Sketchfab is used to import 3D assets on the fly. Google Poly had a much better catalog of assets for this sort of thing but sadly, it's no longer available. The README.md describes how it all works but the gist of it is…

Hey HN, I am Niko. I've built this 3D Dino Game In browser using tech like three.js and MoveNet (tensorflow). Basically, it's a normal 3D dinosaur game with a twist: you need to actually perform actions irl to avoid obstacles. Duck to crouch, jump to jump, raise left hand - go left, raise right hand - go right. Game is using your phone/laptop camera to track your body movements and perform in-game actions. PS. Game is 100% client side and I don't record/track/use/save any of your data Hope you find it worth playing. (better play on PC) It's a 100% FREE browser game with…

Hello everyone! I'm excited to announce the launch of Astrocyte, a web app that allows you to create and interact with 3D AI characters. Whether it's video game heroes, anime characters, political figures, or even that obscure NPC from your favorite RPG, you can bring them to life and have a chat with them on Astrocyte! Many users have already begun crafting their own characters on Astrocyte, and the conversations have been incredibly entertaining. I would be thrilled if you could give it a try and share your honest feedback. Thank you!

Happy Halloween! Instead of going to a Halloween party this year, my wife and I decided to run a tiny Hackathon and built this little retro choose-your-own-adventure to pay tribute to a popular series of yesteryear. Try and escape! Also pumpkin mode!! We made liberal use of ChatGPT for code, DALLE3/Midjourney for images, but did most of the storyboarding/writing ourselves because we couldn't stand the style of GPT4/Claude.

Hey guys, I’ve been playing around with this prototype for a way to build games using GPT. Some details: - It’s an absolute hack right now; expect bugs and user unfriendliness. Also UI is not fixed for mobile yet (use desktop). - It’s top-down, 2d. You view the world from above, and you can move around by clicking and dragging the world. - It’s using gpt-4-turbo under the hood, and I’m outputting typescript code, which gpt will self-repair when there are type errors. - Here’s a simple example game: https://prompty-58a21.web.app/dune/play So far I’ve been quite impressed…

We are working on this side side project since few weeks. Our goal is to design a fully email based game, with graphics and everything. The main concept is a battle between two sorcerers. It’s turn-based, and you send commands by replying to emails you receive. At the moment, you can move your sorcerer, and attack your opponent. New and exciting things are coming soon! To launch a game, you only need to send an email to [email protected] and a friend of yours. The game is fully open-source, including artworks. What are your thoughts? Idea: How about a 5 minute game I can play in my browser and it's actually fun to play. Controls: Mouse or keyboard (left/right, left alt/right alt or A/D), space and esc are pause toggle. Page up / Page Down are next or previous level (if already unlocked). Cheats: Z toggles zapper, M toggles magnets. Debug stuff: I, P, E keys are toggles for various stuff (E lets you change some aspects of physics engine). Game is maybe playable on mobile devices, there is a menu on top right, and then click the circle to select type of control. Physical engine is decoupled from refresh…

Hey all, just wanted to share a little game experiment. It's a rooms & keys kind of adventure with a lot of random deaths. It plays a Veo3-generated video in response to clicks, with Gemini used for coding. Prompting the videos was fun, but trying to vibe code everything was not. In the future I'll go back to using LLMs more sparingly for isolated functions, or at least try not to have it create anything that requires seeing the output to debug.
