Products that do what I am building a free version of Strava does

I recently added a Segments feature to the Hangtime mountain biking app for Android and IOS. If you are familiar with Strava’s segments, this new feature works much the same. For example, you can add a segment to an existing recorded ride by simply defining a start and end point for the segment. Once the segment is created, it will match any new rides, and optionally “back match” all previous rides. If a segment matches a ride, you you will see your time to complete that segment as well as your personal record (PR) and king of the mountain (KOM) for that segment. The KOM represents the best…

I have been working on a new mountain biking app for the last year called Hangtime. It is a free ride computer app that uses a smartphone's GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, and altimeter to track a mountain bike ride. After recording a ride, the user can go back and see their performance in turns, jumps, climbs, etc. Below is a video that shows off some of the app's features. https://youtu.be/TXiwzf-UJhQ I wasn't sure I could get the performance required from Flutter/Dart vs. native as a one hour ride generates well over a million data points from all of the sensor data.…

I recently added a new feature to the MTB Hangtime app that allows users to generate a telemetry overlay on top of an action camera video. The demo video was created using only the app, no third party video editing tools. The goal was to be able to capture the telemetry data with a smart phone and the video with a GoPro, then generate the output video without any additional tools.

I made SABR - an AI model that helps you visualize the beta/technique on any route, based on your body parameters. You can input a video of you climbing any route, in any orientation or lighting condition (it's truly versatile!). SABR then creates a virtual avatar of your body shape and uses it to climb the route you're climbing. Then, you can compare/contrast. You can see the demo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnvNPWoYZz4 Will be open sourcing the model, backend, and frontend codebase soon!

I'm working on a GPS track visualizer for quite some time. It shines in hilly and mountaineous terrain (where a 3D view makes more sense), but it also offers quite a lot of Strava-like features (statistics etc.). You can upload your GPX and FIT files manually, or sync directly with Garmin, Coros and Polar. See https://cubetrek.com for the live app and check out some examples there. It's free and opens source. Also, anyone who likes to work with 3D visualizations (especially Babylon.js), let me know if you like to help polish this thing further.

I am a software developer and in the last few months after recently becoming a father I was barely finding time for a proper workout. Recently I was reading about new research on Snack Exercises and how beneficial mini workouts of less than 2mins every so often, during the day are to our body. So, I decided to build an iOS App for me and others to help with this. The app generates a list of exercises that I need to tick to complete daily or loose my streak. The algorithm takes into account muscle groups and balancing the exercises to hit most main muscles. I also stayed going through all…

I'm working on https://cubetrek.com, a web app to manage, visualize and compare your running, hiking, mountainbiking, skiing... activities. Some features include: a github-style calendar heatmap, 3D visualization of tracks (especially useful for hill climbs and mountaineous terrain in general), a world map displaying all your activities at once. Excluded features: although you can share yoir tracks to the world, should you choose so, there are no friends, no likes, no comments, i.e. none of that social networking stuff. And no ads. Any feedback is appreciated, let me know what you…

You can search for your ride using Cmd + K and your Citi Bike receipt, which should give you the time of your ride and start/end station. Everything is open source: https://github.com/freemanjiang/bikemap Some technical details: - No backend! Processed data is stored in parquet files on a Cloudflare CDN, and queried directly by DuckDB WASM - deck.gl w/ Mapbox for GPU-accelerated rendering of thousands of…

I've been building this for a few years under the name "Statistics for Strava" but I renamed it to Dreeve recently because of Strava's recently changed API usage terms. They paywalled their API. You point it at your activity files (FIT/TCX/GPX) or connect a Strava account, and it gives you a dashboard with segment efforts, gear and maintenance tracking, a heatmap, monthly calendar view, milestones and a year-in-review. It runs as a Docker container, stores everything in SQLite, and nothing leaves your machine. Stack is PHP 8.5 + Symfony, SQLite, Docker Compose. Simple,…

Hey HN! I'm Dris, I'm 17, and for the past few months, I've been solo-developing Parkt, an app that lets you quickly reserve or sell parking spots. Parking sucks - it's expensive, hard to find, and you usually overpay or get a ticket. With Parkt, you can reserve parking in 2 taps, or list your unused space in under 5 minutes. It's now free to download on iOS (with Android coming soon)! You can also check out a demo on the site if you're interested. If you know someone who might use Parkt, sharing the app would be super helpful! Feedback is also appreciated.

Hello, For quite some time, I've been unsatisfied with the built-in timers on both Android and iOS; especially for workouts, when I needed to set up a configurable number of series with rest periods in between. That's when I started thinking about building something myself. It was just a timer and I said to myself "how hard could it be?", I had no idea. The first iteration of the project worked "just fine", but the UI was an eyesore (even more than it is now), and the UX was quite awful as well. As you can probably guess, I'm not versed in design or front-end development. In fact, my last…
