While writing code for the formulas (I'm just trying to learn new things, that's all), I wanted to see LaTeX formulas in my IDE as images or in any convenient way. I'm a master's engineering student and a big fan of LaTeX, which I used for my thesis and research articles. I have used Overleaf and that was fine until I wanted to git sync, which unfortunately sits behind a paywall. This was my recent weekend project, aimed at teaching me JavaScript, a bit of HTML5, and (mostly) WebGL. The orbital data are from NASA JPL. I've just revamped my website for image-to-image conversion called Ekpic and would love to get your feedback on the new version. I have not visitors nor anything, but hey, whatever . In any case, I wanted to have good metrics for speed. I just changed the framework to astro. Still various modifications to do. I got to pondering the quickest way to save a random image so I could get to it on all of my devices, got a wee bit carried away with the technical possibilities, and this was the result. I use Detexify (https://detexify.kirelabs.org/classify.html) a bunch when writing in LaTeX, which lets you draw a symbol and gives you the LaTeX command. But it's quite slow - it takes ~2s to load the page and ~1s to classify each symbol. So I made a faster version using Rust and WASM, running entirely in browser. This cuts the classification time down to ~7ms - fast enough to run on every mouse move, giving you live predictions as you draw.
