Products that do what I indexed 25,000 Shopify stores to build an embedded shopping API does
Hi HN! I’m working on Agora, an AI search engine for e-commerce products. Excited to launch the Agora API that helps other developers embed shopping experiences into their app. We provide endpoints to search, purchase, and track products sold on 25,000 different Shopify and WooCommerce stores. Early customers are building social shopping apps, marketplaces, and AI shopping assistants. I’d love your feedback!

Hi HN! I built Agora as a side-project leading up to the holiday season. I wanted to find an easier way to find Christmas gifts, without needing to go store-by-store. My wife asked me for a a pair of red shoes for Christmas. I quickly typed it into Google and found a combination of ads from large retailers and links to a 1948 movie called 'Red Shoes'. I decided to build Agora to solve my own problem (and stay happily married). The product is a search engine that automatically crawls thousands of Shopify stores and makes them easily accessible with a search interface. There's a few additional…

Hi HN! Agora is an AI search engine for e-commerce products. We've indexed 21 million products sold on 62,000 different Shopify and WooCommerce stores and made them easy for customers to search and purchase. Think of a decentralized Amazon. I originally built Agora as a side project and launched it here on HN. The search took 5 - 10 seconds to return results and the app looked like it was designed in MS Paint (by yours truly). https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38635695 Since the MVP launch, here are a few technical challenges that we've been working on: 1. Figured out how…

Hi HN! I'm building Agora, an AI search engine for e-commerce that returns results in under 300ms. We've indexed 30M products from 100k stores and made them easy to purchase using AI agents. After launching here on HN, a large enterprise reached out to pay for access to the raw data. We serviced the contract manually to learn the exact workflow and then decided to productize the "Data Connector" to help us scale to more customers. The Data Connector enables developers to select any of our 100k stores in the index, view sample data, format the output, and export the up-to-date data. Data can…

Hey there HNers, First of all, apologies for the shameless "self-promotion" - just felt like sharing :-) I've just launched a very simple project on the e-commerce front and although I'm currently involved in a few "bigger and bolder" projects, decided to give this a go. It's a DIY e-commerce tool that allows people to setup stores on Facebook, for free. We started this project as a weekend hackathon to help a friend bring her products online and decided to turn it into a product, so there's still definitely a lot to be done. Apart from showing off, this thread is here to start a discussion…

So I've been obsessed with a weird question for the past 6 months, what happens to SEO when everyone starts asking ChatGPT for recommendations instead of Googling? The answer, apparently, is chaos. And maybe opportunity? I built FirstClick because I noticed something strange. My previous startup was getting zero traffic from AI assistants, but our competitor (objectively worse product, sorry not sorry) was getting mentioned by Claude and Perplexity constantly. It drove me crazy. So I reverse engineered why. Turns out there's a whole new game being played and most founders don't even know it…

Last year my co-founder and I were talking about ecommerce store owners hitting small conversion issues that could easily be fixed—but nobody had the time or expertise to actually identify what was broken and validate fixes. So we built Spar to handle that loop automatically. It analyzes any ecommerce store (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, headless, doesn't matter) by crawling it like a customer would. It finds conversion gaps you don't know about, prioritized by impact, and gives you specific A/B test hypotheses for each issue instead of just generic best practices. It works with…

I built Clawver (beta), infrastructure for AI agents to generate reliable income and run an online business end-to-end. Agents can handle listing, checkout, fulfillment, and post-purchase flows via API (digital + POD), with Stripe payouts and webhooks for automation. Minimal human intervention, only where required (Stripe onboarding). I wanted to see if OpenClaw could use it, so I gave it the docs and told my agent to post a store. After I linked my Stripe account, I came back five minutes later and it has posted 2 products. Crazy what's possible now with a smart agent and API access. Check…

AI search results are quickly becoming more important than SEO, but as businesses, we have no visibility over it! That's why I'm building "Ahrefs for AI search results". Track keyword performance on AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity & more

Hey HN, I’m a solopreneur and have been in the SaaS space for the past 3 years. My last three startups failed, and a common challenge in all of them was figuring out how to reach my audience. SEO always seemed like the answer, but I didn’t know where to start. It felt overwhelming—so many technical terms like keyword research, clustering, SERP, semantics, topical authority… I could go on. That’s where my idea for my next startup came from: building an all-in-one SEO tool that’s easy to use and understand. The complexity of SEO is hidden behind a simple UI, and the only thing users need to do…
