24 alternatives to Infisical – open-source secret management platform
Hi HN, we’re the founders of Infisical, the open source secret management platform – it provides an end-to-end set of tools to manage your secrets across your team and infrastructure (https://infisical.com/). Excited to show you all the progress that we’ve made in the past few months after our Launch HN in February (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34955699) and Show HN in December (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34055132). During the previous Show HN and Launch HN, we received a ton of feedback which helped us improve Infisical. We’ve…

Last month, we open-sourced Infisical (https://github.com/Infisical/infisical) - a simple, end-to-end encrypted tool to sync environment variables across your team and infrastructure. You can use it to store environment variables and inject them into your applications locally or into CI/CD and production infrastructure. It can be used with any language/framework and is platform independent with a super easy setup. We know secret managers exist but, in our experience, they’re too complicated, not comprehensive, not user-friendly, or a mix of all three — other…

Hey HN, I'm so happy to finally show you all this release after years of hard work. I posted the first version of EnvKey to HN back in 2017 (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=15330757), then went through YC in W18 (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16569534). EnvKey is an end-to-end encrypted configuration and secrets manager. It protects your organization's API keys, encryption keys, credentials, and other secrets, and makes it easy to run servers, scripts, tests, and everything else with the latest config. It also helps you avoid duplication in your…

Hello HN! We are developers and security researchers making tools for developers to encrypt data at an application level while maintaining sole control of their keys. We believe that data should always be encrypted unless it is part of an active computation. Encryption is relatively easy, but key management is challenging. There are plenty of encryption tools and SDKs that are out there (Hashicorp Vault, AWS KMS etc.) but we are focusing on ease and speed of implementation, developer experience and self custody of keys. A few months ago, we quit our jobs and started full time on Phase. So…

For the past 5 years or so I've been working on a ground-up redesign of Freenet, my peer-to-peer project from the early 2000s (now renamed Hyphanet). The new Freenet has been up and running since December along with some early applications like River[1], our decentralized group chat and Delta - a decentralized CMS. Users have already started to build their own apps on Freenet including games, and we have some interesting apps in development like Atlas, a search/recommendation engine. Architecturally, this new Freenet is a global, decentralized key-value store where keys are webassembly…

Hey HN! I'm the developer of one of the most popular Android clients for HN, Harmonic for Hacker News. Over the years I have recieved many requests to open source the app which I am finally doing - sorry about taking so long :) Having been very busy working on my PhD during the last two years - Harmonic has not recieved the attention it deserves. I therefore hope that open sourcing it can give it a new lease on life. I also hope that by posting here many of the nice people who have reached out to me will notice that the app is finally open source. I'm also happy to answer questions about the…

Sync-in▲79Hi HN, I’m happy to announce the public launch of Sync-in (https://sync-in.com) — a secure, open-source platform to store, sync, organize, and collaborate on files, without compromising privacy. Sync-in wasn’t born from a business plan, but from a personal need: being able to access my files remotely, share them easily with family or colleagues, and protect my data — through a clean, responsive, and user-friendly interface. Over the past 10 years, it has evolved and matured to support individual, team, and organizational workflows. You can host your own workspace to organize,…

Hey HN! Today we're launching Agent Vault - an open source HTTP credential proxy and vault for AI agents. Repo is at https://github.com/Infisical/agent-vault, and there's an in-depth description at https://infisical.com/blog/agent-vault-the-open-source-crede.... We built Agent Vault in response to a question that been plaguing the industry: How do we give agents secure access to services without them reading any secrets? Most teams building agents have run into this exact problem: They build an agent or agentic system and come to realize at some point…

keychains.dev▲177Hi HN — I’m a heavy OpenClaw user and, like many others, I’ve been thinking about how to give these new “unleashed” agents secure access to my accounts. Agents need API access to be useful. But API keys are long-lived secrets. And agents are not secure environments. So I built something for myself that quickly turned into a product: keychains.dev. The idea is simple: agents never see raw credentials. With Keychains.dev: • Agents make API calls via a drop-in replacement for curl or JavaScript’s fetch() • They use template variable names instead of embedding credentials • The request is…

Hi, I am Krishna Thota. I am building an open source integration and data platform(https://cptn.io). The product is MIT licensed and the repo is at https://github.com/cptn-io/el-cptn. I have started on my startup journey an year ago and launched a monitoring platform called DevRaven. Unfortunately the product did not takeoff as expected. That story is for another day. But during the course of building the product, I have built several integrations leveraging MQs and Cloud Functions. While building and deploying Cloud Functions for happy paths is easy, I had to…

Finally open sourced an internal tool we've been using for managing secrets. It's similar to SOPS, but more opinionated, easier to configure/use correctly, and produces nicer git diffs. It also supports one-way encryption, so you don't have to know the private key to add secrets.

Hi Hacker News, I developed an open source browser extension for summarizing Hacker News articles with OpenAI and Anthropic LLMs. It currently supports Chrome [1] and Firefox [2] (desktop). The extension adds the summarize buttons to the HN front page and article pages. It is bring-your-own-key, i.e. there's no back end behind it and the usage is free, you insert your API key and pay only for tokens to your LLM provider. Grigora▲57Hello HN, I'm Karan, and after a hack wiped out my blog and revenue ($15-20k/month), I was propelled to create Grigora.co. Our beta platform is designed to be a secure, straightforward alternative to WordPress, addressing the pain points I faced as a blogger. With 165 users exploring Grigora and zero paid customers so far, we're eager to evolve. We invite the HN community to test Grigora.co, share feedback, and join us in this mission to streamline web security and functionality. Looking forward to your insights, Karan

I built this as a small side project to learn and experiment, and I ended up with this! I used a subdomain from my personal portfolio, and everything else runs on free tiers. The project uses Nuxt, SVG, Cloudflare Workers, D1 (SQL), KV, Terraform, and some agentic coding with OpenAI Codex and Claude Code. What started as a joke among friends turned into a fun excuse to build something end to end, from zero to production, and to explore a few things I’d never touched before. I’d really appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
