24 alternatives to Ledit – all your procrastination in one place
For procrastination, I usually go to Reddit, HN, or RSS/Atom feeds. I wanted a single place to view all these, without any distractions like adds, permanent UI redesigns, and super simple navigation and feed management. So I built ledit over the last few nights. Here's a very amateurish promo video. ledit is open-source and can also easily be self-hosted if you so wish. https://github.com/badlogic/ledit2 My background is in gaming tech and compilers, so I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing. I've used lit + tailwind for the frontend and Node/Express/Postgres…

I've been frustrated with Reddit's recent API turn, and am also not the biggest fan of HN on mobile. I used to take part in discussion years ago on both sites, but have slowly turned into a lurker. As such, I need a slick client that works on both desktop and mobile, that let's me merely consume content, both media and comments, on both sites. I build ledit over the past few nights for exactly that purpose. I gather others might also have a similar need that's not yet filled by other options out there. https://github.com/badlogic/ledit How does it work? * As a default,…

LinkedIn feels more like Facebook every day — noisy feeds, fake engagement, and everyone shouting into the void. Thats why I used to built a personal microsite on Squarespace and uploaded a video resume to YouTube to stand out - it helped me land interviews and get into Big Tech. But I always wondered: why isn’t there a platform designed to help you stand out like that? So I built OpenSpot: a public, curated platform where you can showcase who you are — with video, audio, and proof of your work. No endless feeds. No humblebrags. Just real people open to new opportunities. We’ve already…

Postel▲111Hey HN! We built Postel because posting consistently on X was taking way too much time and mental energy. With Postel you can: - get personalized post ideas in your voice - see how other creators would write your idea - turn YouTube/videos/articles/podcasts into short posts - repurpose your existing content & brand knowledge - browse thousands of viral tweets → draft, edit, and schedule posts Would love to hear what you think! Cheers!

TL;DR▲199I love Hacker News but I rarely have time to read full articles / comments, so I built a simple site to summarize the top posts & comments to make it easier to get a big picture. A few implementation details: - It pulls the top stories from the HN Firebase API (`/v0/topstories`) - Filters stories with >200 points - Uses Claude Sonnet for post + comment summaries - Tries to capture the sentiment of the comments (still working on improving this) - Refreshes both posts + summaries hourly It has already helped me I hope it helps you! Please let me know if you have any feedback --…

XBeast▲228A few weeks ago I realized i was spending way too much time trying to write quality posts for Twitter. So I decided to look into scheduling tools which could help me automate my writing. I tried a few, but none of them satisfied me. Either the interface was way too complicated or the features i wanted were just not there. Finally, after some time I gave up… and instead I decided to just do it! I hacked up a quick prototype in a weekend. Tried it out - it worked!! Mostly.. I fixed some bugs, made a nice UI, and now (3 weeks later) I think I built one of the nicest scheduling tools out there.

I’ve been messing around with Bluesky for a while, and one thing I really missed was a proper way to browse discussions in a structured, Reddit-like way specially myself being daily reddit user. So, I ended up building a Reddit-like client for Bluesky that scratches that itch: Threadsky.app It pulls in trending topics, lets you explore conversations with a threaded view (so no more getting lost in replies), and even allows users to create channels with customizations, basically, like subreddits but on Bluesky. That said, this is still pretty barebones, and there’s a lot to improve. I really…

Git Hooting▲12400's called, they want their RSS feeds back. I was looking at my growing Github gist collection when a sudden urge to blog and make a name for myself "by not programming" struck. Part way into implementing my oh so special static website generator it occurred to me that, quite frankly, Github gists is a pretty decent publishing platform. I mean, it gives you reasonably extended markdown with previews, heck I could even write in org-mode, has comments, follower - followee relationship, extended search with filters, check out locally and push your edits. Did someone say "edit button"? Thus the…

PostFast▲29I wanted to free my time for working out and my family, so I built a social media scheduler that doesn't break all the time. It has cross-posting across all major social media platforms. The platform is built with NestJS, Kafka, Redis for the backend, Nextjs for the landing, and React with Vite for the frontend private part. I'd love to get your thoughts on what more inside would save you time from going to all those different platforms one by one.

I'm a solo dev. A few years ago, I got addicted to Reddit. Spent months in that loop. Being a programmer, I thought I'd be clever. Redirected Reddit's domain to nowhere in my DNS file. Worked great until I'd just... open the file and undo it 20 minutes later. So I made it irreversible. Locked the DNS file so it can't be edited unless I boot my Mac in safe mode. And if I do that, there's a script that instantly locks it again. Haven't used Reddit since last year. Problem solved, right? Wrong. I just replaced Reddit with Twitch and YouTube. Started keeping streams running in the background…

When Reddit killed 3rd party apps, I uploaded a web viewer I have been using for myself to access Reddit (without 99 popups) to Github pages for everyone to use. I posted about it on Lemmy and it shot to the front page. Since then I have made multiple updates to RDX including themes, infinite scrolling, compact mode, bookmarks, import/export subs, faster GIF loading etc. If you do find this useful please add it to home screen for n app-like experience. Please let me know if you have any feedback, including issues or feature requests. Github link:…

Hey friends! I’d like to introduce my latest product, Flashpost, a post scheduling tool for Reddit. The free tier includes 5 free posts per month so you can give the product a try. It is my first paid product as I try to make it as a solo indie dev! The goal is to offer a simple tool for creators to promote their projects on Reddit without breaking the bank for a single distribution channel. Now for the behind the scenes details. ## The Backstory When I launched my first project TechStackLeads on Reddit, the response was remarkable. My post received 700k impressions, resulting in 20k…

Hey everyone! I've built an open-source Android app that allows you to browse Reddit without using their API. It is built on the library I've published here earlier. Basically, the app uses JSON feeds of Reddit to replicate various endpoints. What this means is that you can browse Reddit without an account and get posts, comments, images, videos and nsfw contents without having to deal with ads etc. In it's current state it has just the basic functionality and I am planning to add more features soon. I'd be happy to hear what you think and get an insight from your feedbacks. APK Releases:…

I stopped using Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok etc long back for various reasons. But that left me wanting a simple feed of interesting content because I think that really has some value. So I built one for myself using public APIs and free datasets. I have been using it for couple years now. Thought I should share it wth HN, because why not. Here’s how it works: every few minutes, a cron job fetches content from various APIs and datasets and populates a database table ‘cards’. When you open feedium.app, you are shown some cards from that table chosen randomly. That’s it. :)

Campfiree▲14I built Campfiree because I got tired of platforms treating users as products. On Campfiree, users submit feature ideas and vote on them weekly. Moderation is handled by randomly selected community juries, no corporate team deciding what's acceptable. It's free with ads or $7/year without (free during beta). We have 55 users so far and ship features every week based on what the community votes for. I'd love honest feedback on the model and the product.

Hey Guys, I created GithubReader.org (open-source, non-profit, most of the code is written by ChatGPT). My motivation: I wanted an easy way to keep a list of repositories I want to learn from and access them quickly. So, I built a search page where I can find repositories by name, like Google. Also, I wanted a nicer way to read Markdown files on my laptop without the GitHub UI, like reading a book. So, I made a custom UI with a back button that takes you to the previous state without jumping pages. The markdown links are sharable, e.g.…
