24 alternatives to Monitor Supply

Hi HN, I built Monitor Supply to compare monitors using normalized specs and transparent ranking criteria. It includes “best for” lists curated by user personas (designers, developers, gamers, mac/windows users), where the scoring and tradeoffs are visible. Some products use affiliate links, disclosed on the site. It’s early and I’m mainly looking for feedback on: - Whether the comparison model and persona-based rankings make sense - What data points feel missing or misleading - What would make this actually useful vs. noise

Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes.

Hi HN, As PMs (Google, Gopuff, Shiji), my cofounder and I ran hundreds of user tests over the years. And every time it felt broken: It could take 2–5 days just to get enough usable results We spent hours watching recordings to extract a handful of insights “Professional testers” rushed through tasks for pay, creating biased feedback Platforms often started at €10k+ per year, with hidden fees on top The result: slow iteration cycles, unreliable feedback, and user testing that often felt like a tax rather than a tool. We started asking: what if AI could help? Could synthetic users replicate…

I was inspired by this discussion https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39066480 about diskprices.com last month, and decided to go ahead and make a site for RAM. It's my first time building anything like this! Any tips / suggestions / calls for complete overhaul are welcome :)

I worked on this tool while looking for a new monitor. You can filter by resolution, panel, refresh rate, ports, KVM etc. I use Rtings.com a lot so I added their scores as well. Let me know if you have any feedback!

Howdy! Keeping with the trend of being influenced by https://diskprices.com, I wanted to make a resource for GPUs on eBay that also take into account a performance metric I tend to look at when checking GPUs. It's still a work in progress, but it's at a state where I think some of HN might find it useful! There are a few things that I have planned to add in the coming day(s): 1. Filters for compatible slots and connectors 2. Expand for different eBay regions, rather than just US focus Let me know if you have any questions or want more / different filters on the page or if I…

I started working on my ideas a few months ago. I've shipped 4 apps so far. I love my numbers, so every morning I'd go through the payments dashboard, analytics, bug reports, feature requests, and everything else for each app. I wished for a single place to view it all, so I built Motherboard. It runs locally in the browser and tracks any visible data point from any website with just a click. A single dashboard for everything. Life's good.

Started PC flipping as a hobby (buying used parts, building PCs, and selling them for a small profit). Found that focusing on used parts on eBay gives the best margins - like finding a GPU 20% below market, pairing it with other deals, and selling the complete build locally. I discovered that eBay marketplaces (.com, .de, .co.uk etc.) often have different prices for the same items! Or just completely different items. So I built an eBay price scanner for PC components. It scans listings across different Ebay markets, calculates median prices, and flags anything selling below market (including…

A bit late in the new diskprices-like website trend, but here's my contribution to the ecosystem. The goal here is to get an instant comparison of the laptops on ebay, using mostly 3 metrics of now: CPU benchmark rank, GPU benchmark rank, and price, without having to scroll through the item description or google the PC model. At the moment there are some parsing bugs, and some components that aren't parsed yet. I also quickly run into the ebay rate limit, making it hard to maintain an hour-by-hour listing. Curious to know what you guys think!

I've made a GPU comparison site: https://gpu-prices.com/US/ Yes, there was one yesterday - I got beaten to it. This one is different in that I've put a lot of work into categorisation, so you can filter down quite precisely. For example, VRAM-per-dollar, limiting to Nvidia, and a minimum performance score allow you to find good ML GPUs. It currently supports Australia, Canada, Ireland, the UK, and the US. The tech stack is Python for data pull and static site generation then Cloudflare Pages for actually serving the site. It updates three times a day, but I could increase…

Hi, I wanted to share with You our project (https://comparere.io). We have built a website for comparing graphics and designs. The concept is simple, you have to just drag'n drop two designs you are having trouble to pick from. The idea has emarged when we stumbled across many different facebook groups for graphic designers, where they used to sometimes ask the community for help to decide which design is better. I had similar problem too. Hopefully this tool will help graphic/ux designers build/create projects that will appeal to more audiences. We are looking forward to…

In the responses to Low Cost Mini PCs (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41389931), I saw some requests for a similar site but for laptops. To improve on existing tools like https://pcpartpicker.com/products/laptop/, I added PassMark scores (with a lot of regex!) and live prices from Amazon. I also added panel types and refresh rates, and sorted results by a weighted rating, which takes the number of reviews into account. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, thanks! P.S: you can sort by multiple columns using ctrl+click (thanks to…

Hey guys, Would really appreciate some feedback on a site we are working on that deals with programming/tech questions with no definitive answer. The concept is that while there may be no definitive answer to "Best X for Y", knowing the pros/cons of the different options and their use-cases is useful when making a decision. We also took a different approach to Q&A and went very collaborative, so one person doesn't have to write everything and we can improve/update it over time. Thanks! www.slant.co
