Hey HN, I've been working on this side project for the past month. It generates a step-by-step tutorial guide for YouTube videos that you can follow along without watching long videos. Best suited for tutorial videos but can work for other videos aswell. No BS. Just straight to the point. The guides are generated from pure transcript so you don't have to worry about it being AI. It's my first project as a total beginner. Something I had to do inorder to get out of tutorial hell. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or if you face any problems or bugs. I would try to fix them to the…

Here is a tool I built initially for myself to help with my German and Greek language studies. It started as a hack for creating Anki cards from native language audio. It extracts the words, finds their base forms (lemmas) and groups the examples by the lemma. At some point I realised that I have a transcription with word level timestamps that opens a lot of other opportunities. So I added a mode to click the first and last word in the transcript and it starts looping with the right gap and repeat count. Another feature I use a lot is selecting an audio fragment, sending a predefined prompt…

I made this mostly to make content creation faster. When recording a youtube video/ podcast. there's alot of downtime (silence) while looking at scripts or getting the correct item to display. So I made a webapp to automatically cut and stich the video back together then I can further edit in davinci resolve. But I recently found out that this is crazy good for rewatching lectures or meeting recordings, No need to render, just drop the video in and watch it right away. 30min lecture can be watched in 12min! I even added auto generation of subtitles to make studying lecture /meeting…

Hi! I'm living as an expat in France and I had a hard time following the news. So I've been working on Fluentsubs that turns YouTube content into a language learning experience. YouTube videos up to 20 minutes can be transcribed and listened to. At the same time I made it easy to lookup certain words and automatically add spaced repetition cards using the given context. This means that you can also rehearse with a real voice and not with AI dubs. This works especially well for the somewhat smaller languages that have a small track on Duolingo, and now are desperately looking for content…

Initially, I was interested in using YouTube videos to learn languages using the simple shadowing technique. It sounds fancy, but it's simply listening and repeating. However, I found it pretty inconvenient to use the vanilla YouTube player to replay video parts. Especially when I needed to do it several times. Later I figured out that it's pretty handy to also practice instruments, given how much material is in there. Not just for mimicking songs but also for better following tutorials. So the idea is simple, you can save clips you want to practice to loop as many times as you want and come…

Hi everyone! This project started with me manually doing the following process: Step 1: Get the transcript from youtube by clicking "show transcript" inside the description box Step 2: The transcript usually won't have any punctuation and have lots of mistakes, so paste it into ChatGPT to clean it up or summarize it. The idea here is to make this process as seamless as possible. What I ended up with was a Chrome extension [0] that adds a button in the YouTube UI that does all of this. Automating it allowed me to do a lot of cool things that would be hard to do manually: 1. I use the…

Hey HN! I built Topic2Manim to automate the creation of educational videos like those from 3Blue1Brown. The workflow is simple: 1. Give it any topic (e.g., "how ChatGPT works") 2. An LLM generates an educational script divided into scenes 3. LLM generates Manim code for each scene 4. FFmpeg concatenates everything into a final video Currently working on TTS integration for narration! Would love feedback on the approach and ideas for the TTS integration

Hey HN, Long time lurker first time posting. This is a streamlit app I wrote as a side project. It's a Generative AI webapp for creating short 30 second informative videos on any topic or subject under the sun. It's not perfect by any means, but a cool demo. It takes around a minute to generate so please be patient. Email is optional, only if you want link to watermark removed completed video clip. Any feedback/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! JD P.S. I am actively looking for Senior Python/DevOps/MLOps roles in California. Contact info in my profile. Thanks.
