24 alternatives to Sheng, a Small but Fast Deterministic Finite Automaton
Deterministic Finite Automata (DFA, subsequently) are a fundamental structure. Most state machines that programmers build are some variant on a DFA, whether they are built by jumping around inside a switch statement or moving from state to state in a table structure. They have uses all over the plac

Outlines is a Python library that focuses on text generation with large language models. Brandon and I are not LLM experts and started the project a few months ago because we wanted to understand better how the generation process works. Our original background is probabilistic, relational and symbolic programming. Recently we came up with a fast way to generate text that matches a regex (https://blog.normalcomputing.ai/posts/2023-07-27-regex-guide...). The basic idea is simple: regular expressions have an equivalent Deterministic-Finite Automaton (DFA) representation. We…

Prela is an embedded query language based on Tarski's Algebra of Relations. Its queries are concise, clear, and fast. It is implemented by shallow embedding in a host programming language: Prela operators are regular functions in the host. The implementation follows continuation-passing style which compiles to efficient columnar execution.

Scheme-langserver digest incomplete Scheme code to serve real-world programming requirements, including goto-definition, auto-completion, type inference and such many LSP-defined language feature supports. And this project is based here(https://github.com/ufo5260987423/scheme-langserver). I built it because I was tired of Scheme/Lisp's raggy development environment, especially of the lack of IDE-like highly customized programing experience. Though DrRacket and many REPL-based counterparts have don't much, following general cases aren't reach same-level as in other…

We’re shipping an execution model that sits between LLM code generation and autonomous agents. The LLM generates only the glue logic between two deterministic interfaces: - a UI schema the frontend knows how to render - a constrained runtime interface exposed by the backend, from specific functions like list_comments to broader primitives like a restricted http_call Both interfaces are fixed, typed, and inspectable. The LLM can’t invent UI components or backend capabilities. It only composes what already exists. This is adjacent to A2UI, but the cut is different. A2UI renders agent actions…

I formalized the Single Source of Truth (SSOT) principle in Lean 4 (~2.1k LOC, zero sorry) and proved two core results: Structural SSOT is achievable only when a language provides definition-time hooks and runtime introspection. Macros/codegen (before definition) and reflection (after definition) are insufficient. These requirements are derived, not chosen: because structural facts are fixed at definition, derivation must occur at definition time and be introspectable to verify DOF = 1. Would appreciate review, critique, or independent checking of the Lean scripts.
