Products that do what Spy on Optimizely customers' experiments does
Here is a bookmarklet you can use you browse or spy on an Optimizely customer's experiments! javascript:window.jQuery && jQuery.getScript("//gist.github.com/optimizelyspytool/7a7f573ec1657fb7db97/raw"); (highlight and drag this to your bookmark bar on your browser) Since all of their experiment code is made publicly available in the javascript library, rather than server-side decisioning, it's all waiting to be browsed! I saw a site made by the guys over at http://nerdydata.com but has since been removed. Post any interesting finds using the tool!

Recently i stumbled on too many clickgates on the Medium blog Towards Data science. Considering that most people publish to share knowledge on Medium and are driven into putting their content behind a paywall, without actually getting paid for it, including myself. I felt like Medium is running the academic publishing scheme. Get free content and get paid for it. So I decided to create a small script to bypass the paywall on Medium, it turns out it also works on other newssites. Heres the website: https://sugoidesune.github.io/readium/ For the curious I will explain the…

I've seen plenty of threads on HN about various alternatives to GA, but you can't try them all. So I tried 15 of the most popular, including: Matomo Cloud, Piwik Pro, Clicky, Cloudflare Web Analytics, Statcounter, Chartbeat, Fathom, Plausible Analytics, Visitor Analytics, Google Analytics 4, Mixpanel, Snowplow, Amplitude Analytics, Heap, and PostHog. Basically anything with >= .1% market penetration in the top 1M sites that had as self-service plan. There's no one-size-fits-all replacement for everyone, but there are a lot of good options if you're trying to get off of Google. Happy to…

So I've been obsessed with a weird question for the past 6 months, what happens to SEO when everyone starts asking ChatGPT for recommendations instead of Googling? The answer, apparently, is chaos. And maybe opportunity? I built FirstClick because I noticed something strange. My previous startup was getting zero traffic from AI assistants, but our competitor (objectively worse product, sorry not sorry) was getting mentioned by Claude and Perplexity constantly. It drove me crazy. So I reverse engineered why. Turns out there's a whole new game being played and most founders don't even know it…

The use case am considering is to do self testing on your site yourself, rather than depending on any third party, I plan to OpenSource it. I am storing the mouse movement coordinates of the user in a javascript array which I plan to send to server every few seconds and save into DB. Where I plan to aggregate the data and show final results. What do you think? http://websymphony.github.com/labs/trackerapp/ Currently tested on only Chrome.

I spent last 6 months trying to build Simple Ops [1] to democratize website performance monitoring so anyone can use it. A year back, while I was trying to measure performance for Visa List as it became a huge content website with more than 100K pages. Also as data is changing very frequently, it's very hard to keep doing this manually. I searched on google and found that all the solutions are just uptime monitoring and nothing and none of them truly measure performance. So I decided to build one for myself. But it turns out website performance monitoring is not so simple after all and with…

Hello HN! Being a software engineer and an SEO guy I wrote a heap of tools and scripts to make my life easier. Now I've decided to share some of them with the community, and made a small site where I will be publishing them. They are all completely free (yes, free forever) and you don't even need to sign up for the site. Just use the thing as you like, no limits. Currently you can access 4 instruments: - Backlink retriever - Thin/weak content analyzer - Traffic trend analysis - Visitor list retriever I am planning on releasing more free tools with time, and trying to stay original by…

Hello HN! I'm excited to share my product that helps companies to track their competitors, their website updates, new features, social media activity etc. I already have the first set of early adopters (thanks to a pretty good ProductHunt launch) who're using it on the daily basis so I'm excited to remove the waiting list and share it with everyone. Cheers!

Hi Everyone, I've been working on FastMonitor.io solo for about a year now. FastMonitor monitors how fast your site is, and alerts you if it gets slower. Wanted to show it to you guys and get some feedback. Back Story: I built the basic tool kit for my previous startup - we were doing SEO and had very slow page speed across a wide variety of pages, so I ran lighthouse on an instance every day and put the results in the database and on a chart. This allowed us to chart our progress and celebrate when our pages got faster, or roll back / find the problem when things got slower. Feedback:…

Hello. I am Avlesh - co-founder and ceo at WebEngage (http://webengage.com) We have done a small experiment with online surveys. We added the capability of, what we call as, "targeting" these surveys to specific visitors on your website. So, when you create a survey using WebEngage and want to display it to visitors on your website (via a WebEngage widget), we let you choose from a bunch of conditions. E.g. you can say, "this survey should only be displayed to visitors coming from Google search and staying on my home page for at least 30 seconds". Have a look at a demo survey on…

Created this app because nothing like it existed. I've always wanted to be able to sort products from my favorite online stores by how much each product had dropped in price. I think we're still the only site that does this. Please let me know if this is not true! What are some ways to get exposure? Google has already indexed over 600k of my pages and most of our traffic is organic search. Thanks, any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

To promote my startup, I made a free tool that compares your Google Analytics stats to the industry standard's stats that have been pulled from a whole bunch of sources. Let me know what you guys think! http://www.voodooalerts.com/is-my-site-broken
