24 alternatives to Syq – copy files between machines fast (better than rsync)
Fast, safe, programmable file motion
Syq is a command-line tool for copying, reorganizing, and removing files locally or between machines. It offers faster transfers than rsync with the ability to resume interrupted operations and run remote commands… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes.

I built a CLI tool called `sshsync` to run shell commands and transfer files across multiple servers over SSH concurrently. It was inspired by tools like `pssh`, but I wanted something more modern, intuitive, and Pythonic. What it does: - Run shell commands on multiple servers (in parallel) - Push/pull files or directories with progress bars - Uses `~/.ssh/config` and lets you group hosts with YAML - Supports `--dry-run` mode to preview actions without executing - Outputs results using `rich` (tables, colors) - Built with `Typer`, `asyncssh`, and `rich` There’s no daemon or…

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick project I built a bit ago and finally cleaned up enough to post. The premise is simple, you have a file on one computer that you want on a different computer on the same network and don't want a lot of fuss. For the file you want to copy, on the machine where the file is located, run: ./bcp filename Now go to the computer (on the same network) where you want the file to be at, and run: ./bcp The file will be copied over the network and you're done. I created it as a nice way of not having to worry about ssh or anything else really. In fact, it is so…

This is a long-running project that started as the proverbial need to scratch my own itch and then somehow evolved into a full-time job of the past 6 years. Link: https://bvckup2.com I thought I'd do a Show HN for two reasons. 1. I obviously want to show my baby to those who haven't seen it. Its primary purpose is to do very fast file replication. If you are familiar with "robocopy /mir" - same idea, but on steroids. Lots of them. It can be used for both mirroring and archiving backups, among other things. It is light, very small and it is really quite fast. Half of the…

i made sink. it's a simple little tool that continuously syncs folders between 2 devices. no cloud, no email, flash drives, no bs. it just uses your local wifi. run it on your machines, tell them to trust each other, and you're set. and if you manage to edit the same file at once, it handles the conflict and saves both copies. for anyone who just wants to get files from point a to b without the headache. hope it makes your life a bit less annoying. github: https://github.com/sirbread/sink binary:…

I built Copapy as an experiment: Can Python be used for hard real-time systems? Instead of an interpreter or JIT, Copapy builds a computation graph by tracing Python code and uses a custom copy-and-patch compiler. The result is very fast native code with no GC, no syscalls, and no memory allocations at runtime. The copy-and-patch compiler currently supports x86_64 as well as 32- and 64-bit ARM. It comes as small Python package with no other dependencies - no cross-compiler, nothing except Python. The current focus is on robotics and control systems in general. This project is early but…

I had this backup code working reliably for years, using local file system, vps/dedicated server, or remote storage for backup, then I finally get time to wrap README, iron few missing switches and publish. Should be production ready and reliable, so it could be useful to others. Contributors are welcome.
