I built a to-do list for movies and TV shows. Built on NextJS, deployed in Vercel, storage in Google Firebase, QA'ed with Playwright, designed with Pico.css, backed by The Movie DB, free and fun.

I treated myself to a solo hackathon this weekend and built https://next-season-of.com. The data is scrapped from IMDB and the website is generated using the hugo template engine. There's still a lot of optimization to be done but I'm planning to use this as a learning ground to try and get my pages to rank in Google. It would be really cool to search "next season of Ozark" and see a link to next-season-of.com.

I want to introduce Nextflick to you, a website I made showing you a random movie trailer, so you can find out what to watch next. Technically, Nextflick is a rather simple website. Everything is rendered on the server-side. Movies are scraped from the TMDB API and dumped into a NoSQL database. Hi HN! Over 3 years ago I developed a movies and series randomiser in Cordova web to deploy on app stores. The first versions had ads in it to monetize the development, also a "PRO" version was released for the price of 1 dollar (or something like that, the lowest price tier as far as I remember).
