4 Years Later, mmm.page 1.0
Hi all, In 2021, I released the alpha version of mmm.page on HN. It came as a nice confidence boost during a particularly low point of the project, with 10,000 people signing up in a day. I've spent the past few years continuing to work on it. The vision [1] hasn't changed: what if people could treat websites like an internet canvas? Could that make the internet richer? More idiosyncratic? Much has happened since 2021. mmm.page remains bootstrapped, and it is now profitable. A TechCrunch artice [2]. Partnering with Google for .ing launch [3]. What it does
In the maker’s words, at launch
Hi all, In 2021, I released the alpha version of mmm.page on HN. It came as a nice confidence boost during a particularly low point of the project, with 10,000 people signing up in a day. More idiosyncratic? Much has happened since 2021. mmm.page remains bootstrapped, and it is now profitable. A TechCrunch artice [2]. Partnering with Google for .ing launch [3]. Custom domains, drawings, sections, responsiveness. New in 1.0: advanced styling, animations, browsing & discovery, and more. There are 65,000+ people now making strange websites, resisting dead internet theory [3]. Take a look your at https://mmm.page. - RORetrospective on having my “Show HN” on the front-page2021 · ▲13
I was lucky enough to have my site trending on Friday (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25872922). It’s an icon site that lists open source icons. I wanted to share some stats on the results after 3 days. Worth noting was that I submitted it on a Friday morning (at which point I went for a walk and a coffee; eek). - 24,997 page views. I (embarrassingly) didn’t have GA set up when I first submitted it, so this is probably missing a few hundred page views - 21 “feedback” emails (half of which were spam). I assume such a high percentage of these were spam because my Feedback…

HN, I've been mostly lurking, semi-active on HN for over 4 years. For most of that time, I've been working on my startup, Learndot. I have always wanted to do a "Show HN" post, but I never thought it was ready. We've now finally launched web signup and using a freemium business model. I feel I can now post and offer something to the community (a new app to try out) and hopefully get good quality feedback. Here's the site: http://www.learndot.com Would appreciate any or all thoughts: From pricing/positioning, to design/performance. The app is written in Sproutcore and backed by an API written…

[1/2] Thursday evening (Mar 26) we made a soft launch for https://uidesigndaily.com (a UI website that I built for my wife) The goal was to get some feedback, fix bugs and get about 30-40 subscribers in the mailing list, to see how the newsletter performs. The launch went better than expected, and the feedback was generally positive. Below are some numbers for those interested. I posted it to 4 channels, IH, HN, Reddit and Twitter. It was best received on HN with 203 points, it made it in the top 10, and it stayed on the front page for a good while. Reddit also surprised me, I…

Many years ago, I made VJ softwares (to mix live visuals in clubs) for unexpected platforms like the Game Boy Advance, the Playstation 2 and the Raspberry Pi. This year, I’m back with a new web-app: Pikimov. Inspired by Photopea (a free Photoshop clone), I created this web-based motion design & video editor as an alternative to After Effects, to fill empty void. It's free, without signup, without cloud uploads (your files stay on your machine), and your projects are not used for AI models training.
