To help bridge that gap, I spent the last two months full-time reimplementing and open-sourcing a self-contained implementation of every major modern deep learning technique from scratch. The result is beyond-nanoGPT, containing 20k+ lines of handcrafted, minimal, and extensively annotated PyTorch code. I'd love feedback on how to make it more helpful for people interested in transitioning into deep learning research. The roaring 2020s are a surreal time to be alive, and we need all hands on deck.

Hi everyone, I started working on nanoeuler after the ban of anthropic's fable because my ambition and dream is to work in the AI field in anthropic. I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned.
