What it does
Every day from 1 August 2022 to 21 January 2023, a script fetched the articles from Hacker News’ front page, summarized them with GPT-3 and displayed the results on this page. I always considered it as an experiment. I originally thought I’d run it for just a month – it ended up being almost six months, due to inertia and OpenAI lowering their prices. But all things come to an end, and Autosummarized HN is no more. Thank you for your interest! You can still access previous editions of Autosummarized HN. I intend to keep this archive available indefinitely. The source code is also still available. Another implementation of the same idea (still live as of 21 January 2023) is available here (…from danieljanus.pl

Open Source Bot That Summarizes Top Hacker News Stories Using GPT-32022 · github.com · ▲71HN Summary is an open source bot which sumarizes top stories on Hacker News and publishes the summaries to a Telegram channel. Whenever a new story appears on the Hacker News API /topstories.json endpoint, this bot summarizes it (currently using OpenAI GPT-3 text-davinci-002) and sends the story title, summary, and url to the hn_summary channel on Telegram. The purpose of this project is to help build intuition on the capabilities of the current generation of large language models while making a broader swath of top Hacker News content more easily accessible. It could also serve as a…
I mapped HN's favorite books with GPT-4o2024 · hnbooks.pieterma.es · ▲285Hey HN! I love finding new books to read on here. I wanted to gather the most mentioned books and recreate the serendipity of physical browsing. I scraped 20k comments from HN threads related to reading, extracted the references and opinions using GPT-4o mini, and visualised their embeddings as a map. - OpenAI's embeddings were processed using UMAP and HDBSCAN. A direct 2D projection from the text embeddings didn't yield visually interesting results. Instead, HDBSCAN is first applied on a high-dimensional projection. Those clusters tend to correspond to different genres. The genre…

A self-hosted AI that turns Hacker News into a daily briefingJul 2026 · github.com · ▲5Hi everyone, I read HN every day, but there was always more great content than I had time to read. I know there are already several HN summarizers on GitHub, and I tried some of them. They just didn't fit the workflow I wanted, so I decided to build my own. My project is a self-hosted app that automatically fetches top stories, summarizes them with AI, translates them into your preferred language, and prepares a personalized daily briefing in a nice customizable UI while you sleep. Maybe I'm not the only one who wanted this kind of workflow. I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially on what…

Hey HN, I've been working on https://pornpen.ai, a site for generating adult images. Please only visit the site if you are 18+ and willing to look at NSFW images. This site is an experiment using newer text-to-image models. I explicitly removed the ability to specify custom text to avoid harmful imagery from being generated. New tags will be added once the prompt-engineering algorithm is fine-tuned further. If the servers are overloaded, take a look at the feed and search pages to look through past results.
